Strange event - then check engine light
When unlocking my car tonight, I noticed that the interior lights did not come on when I opened the door. When I started the car, the dash illumination didn't come on; the digital speedometer didn't display; and the dash indicators showed the low beams, high beams, and parking brake all engaged. I turned off the car; locked the doors; and let it sit until the dash lights went out. I then started the car. The dash illumination returned to normal but the check engine light is now on. The car seems to ride "normal". I tried letting the car sit 1 hr and restarting but the check engine light is still on.
Any thoughts on what's going on? Is there a way to reset the check engine light w/o a trip to the dealer?

You can go to pretty much any auto parts store like Autozone, Advance Auto etc and most of them will read a check engine light for free.
Or pony up $85 and get the Autel Diaglink, does all MB specific codes in addition to regular OBDII codes. Does additional car lines for an extra $10.
A cheap basic OBDII ELM327 code scanner is about $23 for android and only does check engine lights. Use the Torque app on Android.
For Apple iOS, it's $26.25
