New to us 2011 E 550 4Matic - Air Suspension Leak
77,000 Km (48,000 miles) on the odometer when we bought it. $ 22,400 Cdn (say $ 17,200 USD) sale price before taxes ... seemed like a good car for that money. Barely broken in!
Lots of power - I thought the 1999 SL had plenty of get up and go. The E is another level above.
Have had it for 2 months now. We bought an extended bumper to bumper warranty. Good thing since in the first month the starter motor failed & it cost $ 1,500 Cdn to replace (at MB shop). 1/2 the cost of the 4 year warrant has been justified.
We also went for the Zero Depreciation car insurance rider ... because it would not take too much to "write off" this car - given the market value & cost to fix it.
A parking lot hit & run incident left me getting a new rear bumper over the Christmas break. The auto body shop rep said these cars are built like tanks ... so no fear of frame having been twisted. $ 4,000 Cdn ($3,080 USD) repair cost. $ 300 deductible cost to us.
Just had to replace the key-less fob batteries - since a warning had come on the dash - for both keys. No big deal.
One annoying thing is that every time the car sits for a while - the rear (passenger side more) air suspension drops & "Car Raising" is on the dash for 30 seconds or so before it goes out. Is this going to wear out the compressor if the leak is not attended to? Or is it fairly normal?
The dynamic seat left hand bolster also leaks ... so I just shut that off ... so I do not hear the hiss & don't have to worry about over working the compressor. I took the back of the seat off & that bolster is really buried in there. No Mc-Giver home fix for that one.
I enjoy the power .... wish it stayed on "S" mode until turned off (which it would never be turned off).
First time posting on the E Class forum (all my posts are on the R129 forum) ... no picture available to post.
When I first started following MB World in 2003 - the E55 AMG was one of the hottest cars out there. Now I have one ... not bi-turbo or anything ... but very quick.

Yes, if it's leaking, get it fixed especially as you have a warranty that should cover it. That's what typically happened in the W211, people would ignore the leak and eventually the compressor gave out as they didn't design it to kick in all the time.
I don't know how other people have their fobs last so long. I thought it was just the batteries, but maybe it's because I have keyless go and others don't, but mine never seem to last more than 3-4 months before needing replacing. I just get a 10 or 20 pack of batteries on eBay. I've tried several brands hoping to find the magic one, but they all last about the same amount of time. I've only noticed that Energizer tend to have slightly more battery power (3.35 volts) in general than other brands like Sony, Duracell, etc.

Definitely not normal. I am basing my experience on having owned multiple S class cars with air suspension. The only time I ever got the "vehicle rising" message was when I needed air shock(s).

I had an E550 2011 as well, was a great car! Enjoy!

I thought used CPO MB warranties could only be extended for 1 or 2 years. Has this changed recently? A 4 year warranty on a 2011 is exceptional.

I just checked - it is actually a 5 year. 40,000 Km (24,000 mile) bumper to bumper warranty. By Old Republic Canada.
For $ 3,200 Cdn ($ 2,500 US) was a pretty good deal.
Low mileage per year ... but I only drive about 13,000 Km per year ... so it will be a full 3 years warranty for my driving. Half paid for already. Good peace of mind.
