Difficulty of changing parking brake pedal assembly
Having the common issue of the parking brake not releasing easily when temps get to around freezing or below freezing, 20's-30's I can just pull the pedal up with my foot, had a situation during a trip to Minnesota where in low teens I had to yank the pedal up by hand. It drives me crazy as there are times I am afraid to set the parking brake and am on a hill so car just bangs against the parking pawl.
Has anyone DIY this job? If so how difficult is it and is it even something I should try to tackle myself?
Thanks in advance!

I did it in my W211 and it was quite challenging. Half the battle is the uncomfortable position you need to assume - lying on your back with legs sticking outside the car.
You'll have to remove the carpeting and a cover plate and then some bolts, a few dash pieces up top to access the release handle and cable. Once I got the new unit in I had to have the tension adjusted by my mechanic as it was rubbing and squealing. Good luck.
