'11 E350 4Matic - Engine and trans mount cost

So glad I shopped around but want some input on whether the price I got was too cheap.

Shopped 1 dealer and 2 indy mechanics before today to replace the two engine mounts and trans mount on my '11 E350 4Matic - all were within a hundred dollars of each other with the low being $2200 + tax with the dealer being the highest at ~$2300 + tax. Decided to call the used independent dealer who sold me this car (and my '09 C300) as their sales department was superb, they came back at me with all 3 mounts being $1250 + tax. Before he quoted me I talked to the advisor about 4Matic being a more complicated job so he definitely knew it was 4Matic as he was commenting how the steering rack needed to be dropped and exhaust dropped.

Should I be concerned with the +40% lower price? This independent service department is a good 20 mile haul from me vs the dealership but they will provide me a loaner. I just think something is missing from the quote for it to be that low, he assured me it was for both engine mounts and the trans mount.

I just had all 3 mounts done under an extended warranty and the bill was $1,358 at my local dealer. So I don't think your indy is too low. Those dealers seem too high.

The mounts were one of the issues I was going to have dealer address prior to my purchase of a 2010 E350 4MATIC, even at their cost still seemed pricey. I wound up paying the same amount for a 2011 with 17K less mileage and the only repair for delivery was the AUX battery and the downshift paddle on the paddle shift. Paddle button worked, just the paddle was broken off. Dealer agreed to fix but part not in stock. Drivable just have to return when the paddle comes in. I estimate an hour or two based on watching Y/T Videos. Auxiliary battery was replaced at delivery amazingly at their choice not mine I had forgotten about it and figured message would go away when battery got charged. Again I am not saying no to FREE.

Well the transmission mount is easy, only 20 minutes. It's the two motor mounts that will take a while as you have to drop the exhaust, remove the alternator and drop the steering rack. There's a youtube video on it. Plus there's several threads on here about people doing it. Seems high even for an indy, I'd shop around some more.

I think that $2K is unreasonable for the job. I've done the job myself and it was a bear, but someone who knows what they are doing can knock it out in a few hours.
