Coffee stains on plastic

Hey everyone, so I’ve been trying to remove correct stains from my cup holder trim for at least 2 years now and nothing seems to work. Every tried back to black, which works wonders on everything, but it didn’t work. I’ve attached a pic. Essentially it’s a dried coffee spill from when I hit a pot hole or a speed bump. Seems to have dried with a white hue. Does anyone have any suggestions?

clean with 409 or similar.
Then apply protectant once clean

If that does not take off it damaged plastic which would be weird.

Last resort:
sand and repaint

Put some gumout carb cleaner on a rag and gently rub that area. If that does not work I would suggest a can of spray paint.

That part should be easily replaced if it matters that much to you.

What kind of coffee was it? I have spilled coffee on that part in my car many times and it always wipes off with just a moist paper towel and leaves no traces.

You folks are hilarious! I like the one about dipping the whole thing in coffee. Already tried everything mentioned above. It was your regular ol’ McDonald’s coffee I bet. This happened about two years ago and I’ve been trying to clean it ever since. It really drives me nuts knowing it’s there.

Makes you wonder what McD's put in their coffee that can leave that kind of mark.

I think the SoCal sun probably baked it in. Between these stains, my drivers seat ripping and my Android screen being in kilometers and Celsius...I’ve just about had it with this car lol.

Yup. It's like $45 shipped. I'm looking to replace mine too because two of the holder nubs have broken seats on the back.

Yup, it's vicious. I park outdoors only during the cooler seasons. Thankfully there's a parking garage for me at work that I can roll into during the summer, otherwise the black paint and black leather will instantly turn the car into an oven. There's got to be a way to change your display to "normal" settings...

Yeah it’s 49.99 on eBay brand new. I would just get the new one. I don’t think you,ll get that stain out as it’s baked in. You can spray paint it but will be hard to find the perfect black (that’s if you really care about matching it perfectly &#128512.

If you are careful, you could try some acetone. (As in finger nail polish remover containing acetone). Acetone is a petroleum-based solvent, so must be used sparingly. Wet the corner of a paper towel with it, then rub the area. What you are doing is attempting to melt the surface of the plastic so you can spread it around to match the color. Do this over a sink, and do not go overboard. If the color matches, stop further rubbing and let it dry (in just seconds).

Plain old gasoline might work, too. Both Acetone and Gasoline are petroleum products rubbed on petroleum-based plastic. dig?

Trade it in, If you cannot get the stain out, why waste $50 on buying a new holder.
