I was in an accident last week in my 2013 E-350. I drove through an intersection looked away a split second to put my cup in the cup holder and saw the break lights of the car in front of me. I went right to miss the car, but swipe him on the rear passenger side, bounced off of him and hit the van in front of him. By the pictures would one say that the car it totaled or could it be saved?? I've yet to hear from my insurance company. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing... Is it just wishful thinking on my part that she can be fixed?? Airbag did not deploy and I have around 97000 miles on the car.. No visible damage inside the car..
If you have LED, single headlight can cost more than car value.
Sad thing, but that is how system work. On more than 7 years old car, small fender bender repair exceeds its value. Especially when you consider California labor.
My son just had similar accident in his Ford Focus. Less than 1 year old car was totaled as its value is $16k.
I would tend to say TOTALED. Sorry Charlie!!! I would suspect unibody crack at minimum possibly in non visible location. Even if it is salvageable plan anew front end. Left bumper, front,, right, tires, suspension, headlights, hood, latches, grille, radiator, probable core supports and that is just the visible stuff. That doesn't include , labor, prep and paint.

If you really like the car and if you are advanced DIY, you can always buy back the wreck from insurance and search JY for same color hood, fender, bumper and whatever you need.
That might take some time, but today you can set alarms to your cellphone when MY wreck comes to JY and be the first one to scope it.
Even if the frame is bent, I remember those cars have bolted front frame extension?
That's a lot of ifs, but doable.

Problem is the engine and trans took a bad blow. It may not leak now but I guarantee it will leak soon. That is why I would get rid of it.
KBB values that car around $12-$14k pre wreck. Going for you is the bags didn't blow, going against you is its a Mercedes. If the repair cost is over 75-80% of the car's value most Insurance companies will just total it because if something goes wrong after repair they are on the hook for it. Better to clear it from their books ( in a prior life - I worked in insurance for many years).
So in a best case scenario of $14k value meaning if the damage is over $10k its totaled I'd bet you're right there, needs some body parts, header panel, headlights, and some time on the frame machine, no way its below $10k. Its totaled.

LED wasn't until 2014. That's a bixenon headlamp, it has the headlamp washer. The list price for a headlamp is close to 2k, although maybe you can get close to $1500 when buying online and they're a few hundred used on eBay.

I tend to favor this response. It comes down to if you are willing to do the work yourself and find used parts. If not move on.
