SOLUTION TO "KEY NOT FOUND"
SOLUTION to "key fob not found"OK, so occasionally the dash says "key fob not found". The reason? I carry my fob in my pocket all day and sometimes it one of its buttons get pressed then the car can't "find" the fob. I found that simply pulling the fob out of my pocket and pressing the "unlock" button will allow the key to be recognized.

If its push button start just take the start button out and insert the key and start the car then your key will be recognized. You can either drive it that way or you can turn the car off re insert the push button and start as usual hope that helps

For me, whenever I’ve run into this issue in general, it’s usually related to my iPhone being too close to the key. Happens in all three of our cars which are all keyless (Toyota, VW, MB).

Our GLK sometimes gets fussy about "Key Not Found" errors. I've told my wife to just use the "Unlock" button on the fob. That seems to reset all of it and all is well for a few weeks at a time.

OP, you are correct about the solution (use a button on the remote), but not about the cause. I'm convinced this is a system software "issue" It isn't caused by pressing a button on the remote when you aren't near the car. I can press the remote in the office and the keyless GO will still work when I get to the car.
This issue happens to me about once a week. I've eliminated all the suggested "causes," yet it still happens. I've tried to get my dealer to update software, but they won't.

The majority of the time when I get the Key not Found message if I hit the Start button again it fires up. I think it helps if you tell it "'I've got my key"
