The header ads above featured a link to "50 cars that depreciate the most." http://suvsite.net/50-cars-that-are-...splay-fallback
The Mercedes CL, R, and S Classes are featured among cars that depreciate at least 35% in the first year. But.... The E-Class is not listed. Surprise?

It all depends where you get your information from. The OP's link does not indicate when or where the data for the article came from.
The E-Class is #8 of the 10 cars that depreciate the most according to this 3/21/19 article: Autoblog: Cars with the worst depreciation after 5 years
"The average vehicle in the United States loses about half of its value after five years, according to a new study by iSeeCars.com. Some automobiles, though, lose value at a much faster pace.
This data was compiled from more than 3.6 million new car sales from model year 2013, and more than 750,000 used cars from that year that were sold between January and September 2018."
Like the Jaguar that we just saw, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a very nice car. But, also like the Jag, it was expensive when new and remains expensive to maintain over time. But the E-Class isn't the worst vehicle in its class, or even the worst vehicle from Mercedes-Benz when it comes to overall depreciation."

I agree the "Top 50" linked to in my original post does not equally compare equivalent data from all cars at the same point in their history. Originally Posted by Longroof

This thread was more for entertainment value, not literal data. It's on the internet, and the link posted as advertising right here at MBWorld, so it must be true, right?

As someone who bought his E550 used, I'm glad it depreciated! Hahaha. Since I bought it as my secondary car I had no intentions of paying 20-30k for it. I just wanted a cheap(er), fun, fast car... and as luck would have it I got that in the form of a bangin' Benz.
Why do I always fall for this clickbait stuff to see if my car is on there? Guess there is more ad revenue in making us click through each photo to reveal what's next. Just give me the list of data and a source!

The E is the least depreciated car at 0.12 yrs.
The E is the most depreciated car at 4.02 yrs, since it costs so much for maintenance after the warranty expires.
I just made that up.
But it's on da internet now, so it must be true!!!

Yeah, I agree. I could afford my E550 because it was used. I paid 40% of the original sticker.Originally Posted by TeeEl

Most of (several) MB I bought in years were bought for 10-15% of its original price.
That include famous W123 who I had 20 years ago.
I don't see much entertainment in this topic.
Pure speculations

Same. I think I paid about 1/3, even after sinking a couple grand into repairs.Originally Posted by Peachy

I bought my 2014 E350 4Matic Sport CPO. It was a leased car. I paid 1/2 off the original sticker and it was in service for 2.5 years when I bought. Since then, it's held it's value pretty well. And it gets me safely and reliably from point A to point B with zero issues. That said, I would never buy a premium German car new.
