Check Engine Light - Info sharring
I did have the O2 sensor code flash a week back with the check engine light coming on solid, but then it just disappeared so thought it was a 1 time thing but today it rattled (and the engine light blinked/flashed)
A smoke test should show if you have an air leak on the engine side of your MAF/MAP. Not sure if a bad injector would throw a code, but maybe. Best to get your OWN Mercedes-specific scan tool and do some of your own diagnosis instead of relying on what the service manager or the Advance Auto employee tells you. A dealer's solution is to always replace something that is expensive.
Is P2179 the complete code? Mercedes usually uses 6 digits following the letter.
At first I had an engine misfire on 3 cylinders, so i took it to them - they charged me $1100 for Sparkplugs + Diagnostics. Within a week I had the O2 sensor code and again engine misfires! I have complained to Mercedes Benz Canada Since and they're reviewing the case right now.
Lets hope they come back with something more concrete.

Can you say, "BOHICA"? Oh, wait! Are those Canadian dollars? Still, that hurts when they don't fix the problem.
I am just going to take the car to a local shop and get it fixed and bite the bullet. It is so disappointing that the company is not ready to help its customers here.

$1000 was only a polite abuse.
Not all MISFIRES are simple to fix:
ignition + injection + timings.
Somebody is going to have to :
read all chassis faults
read fuel pressures
read fuel trims
Lets us know what normal service was done/missing. Stupid dry idlers can cause misfire with overheated slippery serpentine.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

I went in with misfires, the obvious conclusion is to change sparkplugs!
And now the misfire is back and Mercedes says, deal with the dealership.
How do I go back to the dealership after complaining about them to Mercedes!?
I can never trust 'em now!

Find the local Indie everyone goes to when they are serious about getting their car to work.
At least the indie has fewer deep pockets to fill with unnecessary work.
It is always only up to you to call for the maintenance you want performed. Flush rear brake lines and apply external protection to prevent standard rust puncture.
