Right mirror "feature" in Reverse gear?
We have a 2016 E350, and the right mirror turns upward when you put the car into reverse! ...upward ...what, like I need a view of what's higher up when backing the car??!!!!
So I went through the entire dash menu system and can't find anywhere to turn off this "feature" ...help! Either to kill it, or to tell it to turn downward in reverse, duh!

With the reverse gear on after the mirror moves adjust the mirror to position where you want it to be on reverse gear, like to show down around the right rear wheel area or so. After this when you select drive the mirror will return to the memorized driving position and when you use reverse again the mirror will turn to position that you selected above.
The feature works only if you have selected the right side mirror from the buttons last. If you press the driver side mirror button it disables this feature, which answers your question how to disable it.

Put it in park, go out of the car with the keys and come back again. This should reset it.
Follow the steps again, in case you want to enable it in the future.

IF one finishes reversing (still in "R"), looks in the mirror, then adjusts the mirror to the driving position before selecting D (ie., mid-cycle), then the mirror will be re-trained and behave differently the next time reverse is selected.
Especially if you have more than one driver, all should understand how the feature works. The mirror only does what it is programmed to do...

You could always read the manual.

omg...really?
1) Select right mirror button
2) Put in reverse-mirror will move...
3) When mirror stops moving, Move mirror where you want to look
4) Put in park-mirror goes back to static setting after 3 seconds.
If you want to disable, either just push the left mirror button, or you can turn off in the cluster.

OK, got it. Recalibrated it to tell it to look down. Thanks!
I know, seems lame on my part, but whatever it was I was doing to try and "train" it to look down in reverse wasn't "sticking". Yes, lame on my part, but thank you for clearing it up. It works properly now

My bad...
QUOTE=Arrie;7745510]Didn’t I say just the same in my reply?[/QUOTE]
Yeah, I see that now, sorry. My frustrations are not with you though. The OP is either a troll, or has a memory deficiency. He asked the exact same question 10/05/2016. He was answered, and acknowledged the answer...anyway, no big deal I guess. Scroll down, the related thread was just below this thread earlier...smh

I am the OP. So I am either a troll or have memory deficiency? Hmmm. Certainly not the former, so perhaps the latter. Thank you for your kind words and generous spirit.

Congrats, man. Did I not just say I had forgotten in post #12? And did I not just admit a lapse in my thoughts in post #9, not to mention feeling "lame" about it? You are a super sleuth, to be sure; well done. Your behavior here is a testament of your contribution to the board as well as a true reflection of the type of person you are. Be well.
