2010 E550 W212 Sedan driver side upper window trim rear-seat

Hello all. I purchased the above pre-owned vehicle from non-mb dealer. The driver side upper silver trim is mis-aligned. Hopefully, the two (2) included photos will show the issue.

Does any member(s) know how to safely (and w/o damaging it) remove the trim so I could correctly re-set it?

Thanks in advance,

Keith

About 1/2\" longer at front mirror??

Does not line up by 1/2\" at quarter panel??

No idea how to uninstall / reinstall these, but here's pic of my CPO 2012:

* Trim on my driver side is aligned rather nicely.

* Trim on the passenger side is definitely askew, but I never noticed before today.
It's got a clean Carfax, but you never really know if you buy used like I did...

Hi JR... this is funny. Your mis-alignment the reverse of mine... LOL. Had a body shop guy look at it this morning. His remarks scared the MB out of me! He thinks it's been sloppily GLUED in place... WTF!! But did quote about $80 to install a new one. An RBM service advisor replied to an email yesterday... didn't mention anything about glue or clips or fasteners tho... but said it can be removed JUST BE CAREFUL cause if it breaks... that means a NEW one. "Yeah... Right..." A new one runs around $220.00. I'm awaiting another viewing and will post back the more important info... "How is this one-piece installed... clips, fasteners, etc." TTYL and thanks for sharing... Keith

Okay, one misalignment is unfortunate. Two gets my attention. Enough to make me walk out to my car and look.

My trim is installed perfectly. (Sorry). These have to be factory installation errors. I'm surprised they were not caught

I would concur that somehow they rolled out of the factory like that. You would have had to suffer some major damage in both cases to require that trim to be replaced.

JR' flip similarity had me thinking along those lines as well - the mis-fits that slipped through. Anyway, I just bought some 'pry' tools at neighborhood YepToys and will have a go at it in the morning. Waaaaay to hot in the garage right now. Keith

Gd'Morning guys. I used a plastic pry tool starting at the back (quarter panel) end and have successfully released the trim. A bit nerve wracking at first... but... the trim is secured by fastener clips. Take a look at photo. Good luck to you as you try to remedy a misalignment! Just be gentle and ory DOWN on the trim from the gap between the trim and the body... while sliding the tool to the NEXT anticipated clip and so on....

Respectfully,

Keith

Final suggestion and finished realignment pictures...

There's probably NO NEED to completely remove the entire trim! In my situation, once I released enough of the fastners ( mid front door area), I was able to push UP on the still attached trim from the front ( rear view mirror) tip... sliding the trim UP until it was matched (GAP) with the gap on the passenger side of the car. Then, all I had to do was... using a microfiber cloth... just press the freed trim back onto the clips for a perfect alignment. "Job well done!" Savings? $218.00 for new trim and potential $80.00 for body shop guy to install new trim.

Please be careful doing this repair!! See the pictures below of completion... TTYL. Keith
