Engine stall into gear
Engine stall into gear
Hello,
When engine is cold, my E250cdi stalls when putting the vehicle into gear. I am forced to let the engine run for at least 5-10 minutes before I am able to put the car into gear w/o stalling. Its been like couple months now like that and nobody can find what the problem is, also no error codes been shown on diagnose. I changed ATF and filfters + replaced the MAFS and still nothing.. When engine ir warm there's no problem, only when its stay for outside for a day..
Thank you

SO it stalls not when you put it in gear but when you press brake pedal with cold engine?
Check the fuel pump idle control and how the cold engine is running at idle
Not sure, but does it have glow plugs?
and if it does; are they all working properly?
MAybe not all cylinders getting warm enough for proper idle?
I would take to good diesel mechanic who knows MB engines... which sometimes mean dealer.

Hi,
I have the same issue with my W221 S320 (OM642).
If the car is still and the engine is cold, it stalls when I put it in either drive or reverse.
Also, compared to other cars, under normal operation, when the car is in drive or reverse, and is not moving, the engine seems to be taking the load (as compared to when in N or P); it is like a clutch half-engaged in a manual shift car.
