722.9 Park Pawl locked

Hi members! I cannot find this exact fau8lt as a thread so I've decided to start a new one. If anyone can put me straight...

my W212 E350 CDi 2011 has the later 722.9 box. I have had a few problems with odd shifts, bumpy shifts etc and have scheduled lift time to overhaul the valve body and conductor plate. Yesterday, having parked the car normally overnight, I started the engine and foot on the brake, selected reverse. I felt the transmission take up but on gentle acceleration there was no movement. It seems clear that the parking pawl has not disengaged. I can go from park to neutral and the engine is free to accelerate as normal but the car cannot be moved by hand. Any members had this fault before?

Welcome!

Is the parking brake confirmed to be released when shifting to neutral and attempting to move the vehicle by hand? I would spend time trying to rule out parking brake malfunction.

There is also a W212 forum that you might find helpful.

Further to that, I have done a complete check with a Delphi diagnostic package and live output shows no issues at all. No service light or dashboard warnings either.I do have intermittent faults on both seatbelt pretensioners and an intermittent DTC9909 rear left door actuator motor additional lock.

Thanks, Chassis. The parking brake is manual, it appears to operate properly and normally but it was worth me double-checking that. There is a different 'feel' when trying to push the car with handbrake on as opposed to 'in park' and I am confident that the park pawl is engaged.
