No matter how you slice it driving in a snow storm sucks. All you guys seem to be doing is arguing a preference like a fact. Some may prefer the swirling haze of flakes in order to "see" further, some may prefer to not see as far but see more clearly. I prefer living where it doesn't snow. =)

If you read how the whole exchange started, it was not matter of preference, but matter of calling "awesome" something that suck big time and making up very questionable arguments for the case.
When roof mounted light can be good for off roads, typical European semi has more lights at bumper level, than on the roof. Guess what for?

There goes the expert again.

Do you know that different countries in Europe have different laws for lights you can use on your cars or truck? Do you know what country this truck is from?

The one in the picture has lots of lights at the bumper but you can ask all experts in the trucking world for their opinion of what they would be for? For looks perhaps? Or for light on road without much snowing? (Won't be much snowing in the Netherlands, France or England...) I think France and England changed to the universal plate color but the Netherlands still is orange...

But it also has the two big ones on top and these are plain ugly for looks. What would you think these are for?

The registration looks like Netherlands.
Would you know something about driving in Europe - TIRs can cross several borders on single trip, so they can't be build for 1 country.

On the contrary, if it works for the OP then it is awesome. Who are you to say what doesn't work for him?

Guess what for? Because if it were at cabin level it would blind every normal car on the road? (Like the ****ty big rigs we have in the US.) Also, big rig drivers are closer to the roof lights (in terms of angle, not distance) than in a car, so the likelihood it'll reflect back at the driver is higher, than in a car. That's just simple geometry. (We're also taught to not use high beams in inclement weather, but I do.)

Funny question but yes, I know something about driving in Europe. I lived there more than half of my life. Been in big rigs in dark winter storms as well as in some buses and I know what I’m talking about. You don’t.

Will be interesting to see how they are in snowing condition but my guess is not very good. Reasons are the light is not high enough above your eyes and the light shines really wide angle. The high beam lights on top of the big rigs are real high beam projectors so they send very little light in close distance so the light does not reflect to the driver below the light beam.

This probably is why the high mounted high beams work as the normal high beams at low location also show light quite high and cause driver blinding as that light reflects from snow flakes.

But I am not sure...

Main reason I put it on the roof was to not have to modify and damage things in front to keep the car original. And this roof racks are really easy to remove to summer take me like 20 minutes!

I have already drive one winter with this and the thing I can remember that was annoying are that the hood light up because light sitting to low. In heavy snow I not really sure if that was to bad did not really think about that to much.

Yah that’s true not have any button to close led light when I press high beam head light goes on! To be tru it’s not a big difference from the low beams you see in the starts in video!

WOW, I did not expect that!!! You have slight snowing but cannot see any snow in front of the view, just on top above your view of sight for the road.

But I'm sure you will get us another video clip in a strong snow storm, right?

You got snow already, you in Kiruna area?

Well, you already have snow coming down and there isn’t much towns in northern Sweden above Luleå-Kalix-Haparanda line, where snow has not come down yet.

No it's a mag mount. They say it's a high speed over 100 mph but I have not tested that, it's a pig to get off though as the mags are super strong. You feel like the paint is going to peel off it!
The thing is super bright in the dark, a bit too much at times but it's just a bit of fun when F1 comes to Singapore as it looks more like an official medical car (even though it's an E not a C Class)
