E400 W212 questions
Hi I have a question for the small amount of people out there who own the W212 E400. I wanted to know if any of you have any rattle or clicking sounds on cold start. I just recently bought a 2016 E400 sedan and the car is amazing but it is quite loud compared to my old w204 C300. Recently I noticed on cold start it makes kind of a clicking/rattling sound and I read online that early model m276 require check valves and revised tensioners. My question is would the E400 2016 require check valves and revised timing tensioners like the early model m276 or do they already come with them from factory. Also do you guys use 5w40 or 0w40 oil. Thanks for the help

My dealer tells me that cold start rattles indicate engine/transmission mounts. I had the tranny mount on my 2016 E350 replaced under warranty at 26,000 miles. Not happy that these parts are so fragile, but they are easier to replace than items listed in OP.

That’s odd my old 2009 C300 suffered from bad engine and tranny mounts at 50k miles too. I’ll definitely have my indie check the mounts when I get my oil change soon. Other than the rough cold start the car runs flawlessly after.
