Hello. I just picked up my 2016 E350 wagon with a beautiful light color interior, including the velour mats. without looking in great detail looks like the OEM or WeatherTech for basically double the money. Any input or experience that anyone has to share for both the cabin and wagon cargo space.?
Anything on seat back protection as well?

I use Weathertech for the front seat footwells. You can buy a matching floormat for the second row that covers the footwells and the center tunnel. Or, to save a little money, you can buy generic Weathertech mats (that do not cover the transmission tunnel. I have these, because my back seat is very lightly used. If I had regular riders in back I would get the full coverage.

For my sedan, I bought the Weathertech trunk liner, and like the passenger compartment mats, all fit perfectly. I removed the OEM floormats and place then in the Weathertech shipping box and store in the closet, for when I sell the car and want pristine OEM mats. BTW, the Weathertechs are not intended to fitt OVER the OEM mats, as they are laser fit without the OEM mats in place..

I don't care about the seat back protectors. If I had small kids in back (or carpooling adults), I might change my mind.

Weathertech mats provide excellent fit and snap in place with provided attachments molded within the mats. So they don't move around in use. Until Weathertech gets some worthwhile competition, I highly recommend them.

 

I love the coverage of the full Weathertech mats but not so much the look, so what I did was got the full Weathertech set and then put a set of Coco Mats on top of them for that cool '50s German car throwback look. I bought the trunk liner too. I don't ever want a foot touching any part of my carpets, but then I live in a salt state. All in I spent $600 on mats when I got the car, but I love the look and the coverage and protection. Definitely worth it a few years on, and as I get close to 100K, if I ever sell the car I think the pristine condition of the carpets and the factory floor mats that I saved will recoup some of that back.

 

I went with oem they were under 100 bucks shipped, clip in where they suppose to. I have no issues with mine and do like them, but here in a city its mainly for wet and salty shoes in winter, do not know how well they'll work for mud etc. I dont have anything in the cargo area because I do use 3rd row for kids. One thing I did notice is how much better carpeted cargo area is better than plastic that most japanese cars come with, no scratches whatsoever.

 

Thank you all for the feedback. Like Aktash, I am leaning towards the OEM set. The weathertechs look good and durable but they are basically more than double the cost. so that puts me off. and I only have the rain and snow to deal with. The cargo space will be a bit more complicated for me. I dont foresee using the 3rd row all the time but I want the flexibility and the weathertech is one big piece that seems to not be designed for rolling or folding - that would be counter intuitive to the intended function anyway. i may end up adapting foam floor squares instead so I can lift them up and stack them at will.

 

I use the Mercedes winter mats and they work great. Can't ever see spending hundreds of dollars for the weathertech mats that cost $5 for them to spit out.

 

I bought the Black Mercedes ones on amazon for under $100 and they work amazing.

I don't like to use the rubber kind because the dried up dirt simply gets tossed around some time later. The water also does not get trapped in the fiber. it just sits there waiting for a chance to soil your shoes and pants. At least carpeting these things get embedded in the fiber and lock them in.

I agree that is what I use. The weathertech does not cover where the drivers left foot rests. It is to short . The 3D maxpider does cover the area where the left foot rests.

Seasonally I switch the grey MB velour floor mats for grey genuine MB rubber mats in the 4 foot-wells and year round a genuine MB rubber cargo mat.

The cargo mat is black so I cover it with a blanket which matches the seashell grey interior and dog bed. When needed I pop it in the washer and all looks fresh.

Enjoy your wagon! My 2015 has been hands down the best Mercedes. Cocomats are nice too, I have them in my 1973 280SEL 4.5.

 

I took my time responding. I have several sets of winter mats. Including OEM mats.

I like the Chinese quilted ones the best, and strongly recommend them. I got them from autopreme which I think is no longer, but they are readily available on eBay. They look amazing and are actually better than OEM at protecting the carpets. They go up the sides/dead pedal even higher than weather-tech or the 3d max, and are water proof. The bottom layer is solid rubber/plastic.

I also have 2 sets of black OEM mats if someone wants a set I'd send them out for $50 shipped. They are OK, but don't provide much side protection, and water just sits in the wells.

 

OMG!!!! I got those cheap Chinese quilted mats for my Audi S5 and they are FANTASTIC! I bought them not expecting much, but the fit is perfect. They cover literally every square inch of carpet from the console sides to the kick panels and they really fit. Same with the backseats and for the back they even come with plastic clips to hold them against the side panels / console and they are one-piece, in the back they cover over the trans hump too. I couldn't believe it. I did have to lay them out in the sun for a few hours to loosen up, because they arrive VERY rolled-up but once they loosened up they look fantastic. Only thing is, I laid my stock S5 OEM rubber mats over them because I don't think the vinyl / stitching is going to hold up to feet and grit very well. If nothing else the stitching would probably stain badly. I cut out sections of the vinyl mats so I can snap the OEM rubber ones down on the floor fittings. If I hadn't already had the Weathertech / Coco Mat setup (which I still love) in the MB when I found these, I'd get them for the MB in a heartbeat.

They even cover all of the carpet in the backseat too, like up over the transmission hump and all.

You actually don't have to cut out the vinyl mats to snap the OEM ones down, because what you can do (what I did for a while) was use a bunch of those alligator-style springy paper clips to clip the OEM mats to the rear edge of the vinyl mats under the seat to hold them in place. But that got to be a pain when I wanted to just shake them off real quick, and I wasn't really ever driving without the OEMs in place anyway because the Chinese mats look so good I wanted to protect them. I should say that the OEM mats in my Audi are pretty tiny so they're really not covering much, most of what you see is the quilted mats.

Sorry, I want to change my vote. Get these cheap Chinese floor liners and just lay some OEM rubber mats over them. They have TONS of color combos and if you don't like them, hey, you're only out $60.

 

It is too late for me. The OEM set is getting delivered today.and I will not be spending any more. As it is, I will most likely use the all weather mat for the driver seat and leave the velour for the rest of the seats. I think it will look better and also, wouldnt the interior become a tad more noisy with that much more reflective surface replacing carpet?

 

The quilted mats are in my wife's E63 wagon, and are almost 4 years old and have held up well to constant use. Hers are black with red stitching. I just take them out, hose them off, and scrub them with brush and cleaner when they are dirty. In the winter with snow and salt they get really dirty, but always clean up.

As far as noise I don't think the OEM or quiltedare going to make a difference vs carpet. The OEM are thick heavy rubber and better insulating than carpet (most of the noise is going to come from under the mat). The quilted are softer and cover so much more area I suspect they would be quieter as well.

Since my dash/door panels are brown but seats/floors are tan. Is this what I should be looking at? Have used OEM all weather mats in the past and never found them to be that protective. Also, would have to use tan ones (and I want some contrast).

 

good choice it will take some time to get but worth the wait. Also they will probably come in two shipments. Has something to do with weight.

 

I just got the Chinese floor mats that I ordered, and couldn't be happier with them. The fit is almost perfect, and could almost be mistaken as a factory option. And the coverage is everything that the Weathertech and the OEM MB all weather mats don't give.

If you are looking for floor mats to protect the carpet in your car, I would highly recommend these.
