Remove ashtray, How-to?

I have just got my self a used 2014 E-class estate car.
It came with a factory option Ashtray. Can it be removed easy and what can be mounted instead?

2014 E550-sold 😩

The ash tray is integral with the cup holders. Beyond pulling out the actual ash cup, I’m not sure what you would like to do.

At minimum, use the tray for spare change. Just remove the Chrome bezel and reinsert.

If you are handy and inventive...

Thanks. But in we Denmark almost don’t use cash any more and least of all coins ;-)
And I would like to get rid of the signal that it sends being there.
What does it look like we you don’t have an ashtray?

There is a circular hole in the bottom of the space leading into the tranny tunnel. So it's not really useful without the tray in place. As I suggested earlier, the chrome bezel can be pried off, and the tray reinserted for use as a catch-all storage space. If not coins, maybe for Danish Butter cookies, your world famous salted licorice, or a bicycle lock?

Just keep the lid in the position of covering that area of the console with only the cup holders in use. It’s a useless area anyway. That’s what I do.
