Right SRS Malfunction message

I've got a 2010 E350 4Matic with 65,000 miles. My wife spilled some water in the passenger seat recently and now I'm getting the SRS malfunction message. Everything is dry so I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this problem and was hoping for some good advise.

Thanks much,

Gary S

Could it be the spilled water damaged the weight sensor in the passenger seat? Sensor controls the air bag ON/OFF depending on the weight on the seat. If sensor measures low enough weight it disables the passenger side air bag for child safety.

f you get malfunction then perhaps the sensor has gone bad and message is result if that?

See, that's the weird part. If you don't put anything on the seat, the usual SRS off red light in the center dash (between vents) is on. If you sit on the passenger seat, that light definitely goes off. But you still get the error message from the SRS.

Also strange because it came on once a month ago for a day, then went off. Now is on all the time. I don't have a scanner to reset the code, but am working on that. I don't really want to pay my indy $90 to reset one code!

[Meant to say...I sort of think my issue is a spilled water type thing, too. I have the ventilated seats, and my wife mentioned a "little spill" (probably a whole bottle of water!)

So, I have a resolution to this problem. The light went off for some time, so no harm. Came back on. I realized I might not have checked the connector properly. Sure enough, I looked...there was a lollipop stick stuck next to the connector keeping it from making contact. KIDSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
