^Actually, these cars live to be driven every day and do not like to sit. They are more reliable if used daily in my experience. Unfortunately, this particular car may have been abused and without knowing it’s full history can be a nightmare. As far as the Airmatic goes, I am also a fan, but it needs to be maintained. I had an ‘04 and a ‘10 with Airmatic and minimal issues( 1 strut replacement)

Looks like we successfully scared OP from Mercedes idea.
Talking about keeping cars in storage - gasoline is the only big trouble. It evaporates and leaves gunk when it does. I have lot of power tools, where gasoline engine is not run for 2-3 years, but I am religious about running the carburetors dry before putting them away and when gas is older than 2 years - I extract it and refill with fresh one. Once I had left over gas on the boat, so started the 5l inboard on 2 yo gasoline. Engine did start, but it was smoking excessively.
Talking about diesels - I was restarting motorhome who was sitting under a tree for at least 7 years.
New batteries and it started without any problem and run 120 gallons tank of fuel just fine.

If you’ve done all the research about problems on this car that you possibly will face. Then you should not hesitate to make a purchase.
I was exactly like you in 2017 and was in Seattle, bought the 2013 E550 4Matic with 72k miles on it without test drive or visually inspected it from a small dealer in New Jersey and have to spent $1,599 to ship it to me. Atm it has 100k on it and some time there’s Check Engine Light on (which is P0456 EVAP leak) most likely after I pumped gas but it gone in 2 days. I’d the ECU tuned too and really enjoy the ride.

Thanx for asking
You will not find HRE wheels priced like this ANYWHERE else....forged wheels. Except the mandrus, those are cast which is why they're 500
