Can't tell from the picture, but had the situation several times when other car rubbed against MB paint.
It ALWAYS turned the other car paint on MB since MB paint is the highest quality.
So rubbing compound, like the tube dude posted above did the trick.
Now you say your bumper was repainted, so that might be different story.
Take magnify glass, or do high-resolution close up to determinate wchich way is it?.
Worse come to worse, take 50% of estimate from your neighbour and spend part of it on booze to drink with him.
I bet that after few you will not see the scratch.
MB dealer's don't have paint shops BTW. They always subcontract, so learning where they send the jobs, might eliminate markup.

Just get it repainted by a reputable indy shop, there isn’t going to be an issue with sensors in my opinion, a few microns of paint will be just fine.

I have to some level OCD lol and i can’t live with that mark on that bumper, especially if it wasn’t my fault.

i can’t tell from the photo but it look like you can feel it with your finger nail and isn’t paint transfer. Touch up in my opinion doesn’t help a whole heck of a lot. the purpose of touch up paint is to prevent corrosion when the panel has exposed bare metal. Please just get it repainted aghhh (OCD is triggered)

You're right... totally OCD driven. For those not so obsessive, a measured, incremental approach works well.

I see that WallyWorld doesn't stock GS27 in my local store(s) anymore (what a diff 20 years makes), but needs to be ordered from the Walmart (or Amazon) in the sky. A couple days wait will be worth it. He'll be able to get the discoloration out easily enough. Then he can decide if more intervention is needed.

Tried both the Confidant scratch remover and the Bamoer nano cloth. Results were ~meh. I found Quixx PSR at WalMart but haven't tried it yet. Have both GS27 and 3M Scratch Remover coming from Amazon.

I wouldn’t mess with it yourself, why should you have to. Ask your neighbor pay for a detail at a high end shop, they will probably be able to get that out. Compound, wet sand at worst case, and a polish and you’re done. A lot less time and money than any paint job. Tell him you’re willing to try that and if it meets your satisfaction it’s a done deal. If not you’re happy to get his insurance involved.

I have tried using TriNova Scratch Swirl remover in the past

Amazon Amazon

And had absolutely zero luck with it. Is it more likely that GS27 would work? (This is for very small scratches that appear to be clearcoat only.)

There is some misrepresentation in the products.
So called "scratch" removers are efficient in removal of OTHER CAR RESIDUE on your car, but they will not make actual scratch to disappear.
So determining what you have is key to success.
For actuall scratch you can buy "lipstick filler" and then wax it with colored wax. It will not restore the paint, but will make damage less visible.

Most of the time, the objectionable look is discoloring from paint transfer, or someone smudging the finish as they carelessly walk by in their jeans. The scratch removers are designed to remove the paint transfer and smudges, but may not completely remove fine scratches, not usually visible unless: 1) you know they are there and 2) look really close.

I got home from the car wash Saturday, and noticed there were a couple translucent, 1/4" spots on the roof that won't come out with water. I know they are there, but you would never tell.

Oh, NO!...........Horror! ........... Maybe I should have my dealer repaint the roof?

2-hours later... All the spots on the roof are gone. They were stubborn, but a little soak with the 20yo GS27 and they're gone. Found a small scratch on the trunk lid, too. It's gone also.

Let's face it guys, even the newest W212 is 4 years old. I park my 2016 in the garage without fail every night, and it even has small blemishes after 4 years of use. I'd wager there's not a perfect one anywhere.

I've parked mine in the garage every night since I got it, just under a year and a half ago. I feel like I have twice the number of scratches on it than when I bought it though, because I can't control what goes on outside of my garage. (This doesn't count the damage from the c-u-next-Tuesday who merged into me and ran two red lights getting away.)

This has Murphy’s Law written all over it. As long as the sensors work - just touch the thing up. The day you pay $3k to replace the entire bumper is the day before you get stuck behind a gravel truck. Or come out of the store only to find the Bumpasses have parked next to you with their 2002 Ford Excursion.

Murphy is a SOB..

Too funny! The scratches I posted earlier in this thread - came from a woman in a big black Ford Excursion who had parked next to me. Parked in the same end of the row parking spot at work for years, and that one started parking there next to me the week I get the new to me ride. Murphy...

Parking in a different spot even further away now.

Got some of the GS27 and tried it on the scratches, but still no luck. I'm guessing they're deeper than they seem and need a more aggressive solution.

What the GS27 did work fantastic on is the wood trim on the door panel. I wish I had taken a before picture. I had ~1" scratch/scuff on the wood trim and decided to give the GS27 a try after reading that automotive polishes are used to maintain high end guitar finishes. The GS27 took the scuff out and left a nice glossy shine. Did such a good job I repaired a few other scratches on that wood trim piece. I used a super minimal amount of the GS27 and super light pressure.
