E350 BlueTec - Reading SMS Text while in Motion
Just purchased a new / used 2012 E350 BlueTec. I noticed I'm able to read SMS text messages while the vehicle is in motion. This is unlike any other MB owned. Is this normal? If not what would cause this type of failure and what should I be looking for. My gut feeling is that the engine computer is not sending the signal to the entertainment system that the car is in motion. Yet on the other hand the system will not allow typing, say an destination address while in motion. While I like the ability to read a text I do not like that there may be an underlying fault in the system which could get worst. Comments are much appreciated.

Can't answer why, but text message reading is intermittent.
Evan my 2017 Ford does have the option on the menu, it is not working all the time, while on my 2014 MB it doesn't seem to work at all. I don't do much texting so not much experience, but seem to me the feature is still having baby teeth.
It is not Bluetec related issue anyway, but MY of the car can make big difference as technology in those years change on daily bases.

Yes, that was my expectation and previous experience but this car will allow the reading of the complete text even if hundreds of characters long while in motion. This is not normal
