Long-term review of OETuning
I’ve had my tune from OETuning on my car for about a year now and just wanted to write some quick thoughts about the product and process. Communication time from questions to order to delivery was all very quick. Email replies were usually within 24 hours and I spoke to Jeremy once on the phone during my initial setup.
My car is a 2013 CLS550, with the 4.7L TTV8 (M278). These are rated at 402hp from the factory but are very much underrated. My tune from OE is a “stage 1”, no downpipes or other major modifications. My secondary cats and resonator have been deleted, but that’s pretty much it. I’m not sure what the numbers are as I’ve never dyno’ed the car, but I think OE claims that its in the neighbourhood of 500hp and 600+ tq (crank).
My tune has the “pops”, which pretty much makes the whole driving experience 100x more fun. Throttle response feels much quicker, especially in Sport mode. Eco mode feels more or less the same. Most of the power comes from particularly from the low end. Torque is crazy. Gas mileage is about the same for me, haven't seen any difference in highway/road trip driving.
Removing the tune temporarily for recall/warranty work is a breeze. Use the MyGenius OBD2 tool they sell, it is pretty straight-forward.
I’ve uploaded a video of my car with a cold start, soft launch, and driveby. Hopefully, this gives you an idea of what to expect with a tuned M278. Car is on studded nokian hakka's in the video, about -2 celsius outside. The performance is much more brutal with summer tires on and traction off, weather in Canada permitting...

I added an OETuning tune to my M278 and I'm very happy. I really like the higher shift points in Sport mode; the only issue is not staying into 7th under about 65 mph.I dealt with Jerry who was easy to work with.
