Use Bluetooth or Aux cable with adapter. You can connect an Android device ,and tell the phone to work as a USB device.

Apple is more secured in that aspect. BTW I own both.

Not sure why yours doesn’t do it. Mine automatically connects when I plug it in and it’ll play my library on my iPhone. In fact, it can get annoying if I’m listening to Satellite radio and the phone disconnects/reconnects due to my bad lighting cable, it’ll automatically switch from Satellite to iPod. I would press radio button to get back to Satellite but if I hit a bump or something to cause the bad cable to reconnect, it automatically switches to iPod again. Lol
