W212 active bonnet problem
Hi got problem with active bonnet
Replaced bonnet catch sensor so then shows red if I disconnect it shows active bonnet
Car had gearbox replacement and Sam unit.
Any advice

I believe the Active Bonnet system pops up the rear of the bonnet on impact with a pedestrian to increase the height of the bonnet in orderto reduce their injuries. It can be reset by pushing it back into place.
Unfortunately I have no suggestions for OP's issue.

In my case they get a face full of the three pointed star, then a nice acoustic windshield. As they fly over he or she hears the collision warning coming from the inside of my cabin, thru the sunroof.

Active bonnet message is related with SRS system and bumper, Pyro from hood.
The Bonnet Open message is related only with switches from bonnet catch and those could be different if the SAM is not coded properly.

I get that from time to time on my 11 my 14 and my 18. In general it is the right side (from the front of the car) - or my drivers side. In one instance I had to rotate the stand off (the rubber pad that controls hood/bonnet height and alignment) to get the light to go out. I have not yet had to replace a sensor as it is very intermittent. In general kinda slamming the hood takes care of it.
