E550 - 2014 Reliabilty

Hello, im currently looking to buy a Car. Either a BMW, Merc or Audi.
I found really nice E550's and wanted to hear some opinions on it?
Would you buy it over a 340i, S4 or A7? I would because of the V8 but i didn't find online anything about their reliability
Thanks for your Help !

Yes I would buy a V8TT W212 over any BMW 340i or ANY VW/Audi product. Mercedes does not have perfect reliability, but they are better than those two.

The A7 with the V6 is bulletproof.
the 340i with the B58 is amazomg also.
Thanks for a non constructive and non explanatory response

To be fair, you started a new thread asking questions that have been answered on here a million times expecting us to give you the information instead of searching for it. So no need for the attitude with your second post.

I offered you my opinion (which you said you wanted) - that MB would be more reliable in the long-term than an Audi or a BMW - and this is a valid opinion. I've owned cars from VW, BMW, and Mercedes. Mercedes is the only one I would trust long term.

Your criteria isn't well defined. What are you looking for? A small, fast and fun car? A bigger, yet more powerful but less sporty car? 340 is going to be fast, fun to drive, and lacking luxury. Same with the S4. A7, a much nicer, more comparable car. I would choose the E550. I had an Audi, they repurchased it, so maybe I am biased. The M278 has proven to be quite reliable.

The 2014 E-550 was the last year that it was made in the US so if you find a good one, that's a nice one to have. Real leather and heated/cooled seats were standard. They also tended to be more loaded than regular E-350, so if it has the lighting package, driver assistance package, parktronic, pano roof, keyless go or a few other options, get it.

Read the brochure and use a vin decoder to figure out what it has.

Mine has been very reliable. At 55 k I have had a washer fluid reservoir replaced and a gear in the transfer case. The engine is a total beast. I would take it over the BMW or Audi. I am pretty certain that the Audi has the turbo screen issue common to the engine. Good luck. I have had mine since new and I am not even considering a new car ay time soon.

I dont have a criteria other than it being German.. A7 is way more luxurious because its a 2017, the S4 is more sporty and so is the 340i.. But the E550 is a V8 soo. I tend going towards that.
Ive heard very good things about the 4.7L bi-turbo... So i might go with that one since its a V8
( S6 and S7 have trubo problems and you need to get the RS7 or Rs6 for it to be better. But i aint got 60k )

No issues. Gets 28mpg on the highway and is blazingly quick. Sub 5 sec sedan. What’s not to like?

You could always get a CLS550 - I was finally able to drive my wife's 2016 CLS400 alone and I was impressed with the car. With the V8 that car would be nuts - one of the few cars I would trade my E550 in for.... Although I have to say I enjoy the sleeper aspect of the car...there is something about no one knowing how fast your car is

I was torn between the 2016 E350 and 2014 E550. I went for the E350 and still kick myself at times for not getting the E550. I looked at BMW and Audi too, but based on the research and folks I've talked to who own them the MB is the most reliable of the bunch.

E550
I have a 2014 with almost 60k on it. Basically no issues in my ownership or the guy I purchased it from. I have the VMI, only routine maintenance on schedule has been performed. Only warranty work was replacement of warped front rotors (common for 550s running OEM brakes) and the steering bolt recall. Get one that's been taken care of and keep up with the on schedule maintenance. I'd personally also avoid one with air suspension.
