There is no special tool that was indicated on the MB repairing booklet. Before drilled the hole I tried to make some different tools, all failed. Dilling a hole is the simplest method.

I shortened the interval even much more ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
2 years or 20,000KM is my go to number now because this is equal to 800 hours of engine/trans running if 20,000 KM achieved.
I reset engine hours per 5,000KM oil change and I been getting 200 hours from the last 5,000Km twice.
1st trans oil change was 10,773KM on 15 Aug 2018, but 4 years of oil age coz car is 2014 model.
Damn, gearbox suddenly became much more responsive. I kid you not.
However, the 1st oil change I did not get to remove the oil in the torque converter due to start-stop trans oil pump blocking the drain hole.
This 14th Aug 2020 is the 2 years and estimated maximum 23,500KM. So 13,000KM ish I get for 2 years oil life.
Today 30th May 2020 mileage is at 22,150 KM.

To reach the drain screw of TC, you have to disconnect the auxiliary ATF pump. Here is the documents of the entire process pulled from MB WIS. https://en.leighsr.com/mb-7g-atf-change-w212

Since we are talking about Transmissions services...
I noticed on the FCP Euro site that the filter for 2011 and prior is different - (A 2 stage filter vs after was a 4 stage? But you need the deeper transmission pan (Also included in their kit)
Does anyone have any insight in to doing this upgrade? I feel like this upgraded filter is if coolant gets in to the trans fluid? I thnk also you gain about another quart of fluid.
Is this like slipping on a extra condom for protect?
(I have no affiliation with FCP Euro and did not want to link it - dont want to get in trouble)
Thanks in advance.

Newbie question: it seems a lot of fluid drains when the plug is removed from the pan, but at the end the goal is to fill only to the top of the overflow plug. Is this because the engine is running during the fill measurement step?

If you need help let me know. I can pull out the ATF changing guide from WIS of MB by your VIN.
I just know if the 722.9 has replaced the trans oil cooler, that'd be different from correcting the oil level without a trans oil cooler. Bring the oil temp to 90C/194F to let the thermostat opens and then cool down to 45C/113F to correct the oil level.

Am I understanding it correctly? Based on the video after emptying torque converter and atf pan it requires to pump initially 9 liters of ATF before turning the vehicle on to gain up to certain temperature.

Take a note.
To read trans oil temp, a regular OBD2 can not read that temp data. I have Torque Apps with OBDLink LX.
But my icarsoft MB V2.0 can read the trans temp data.
If one get it wrong and in fact trans oil temp has hit more than 65C and then you start topping up, you may end up short filling by 0.5 liter. That is the experimental value I measured last trans oil change.
How accurate an infra red thermo gun shooting oil pan metal ? I don't know because refraction value error of infra red based thermo gun and time for the metal oil pan to equal trans oil temp, I can,t say.

I've been looking for that answer for quite a while now and I got in touch with the thread owner on YouTube. Thanks to all for the great information.

@39039
My car is a 2012 CLS550 RWD with Start/Stop button. Would I also have to disconnect the Aux pump that you have mentioned up in the comments?
I've been searching for an answer to that same question. I have seen that video the thread owner posted a few times now.
Here's my process question:
1. So I drain the pan, clean it, put it back up with new parts.
2. Then I drain the torque converter, close it up.
3. And then I pump the ~9 liters of ATF
4. Start the car and let it reach 45C temp and let the excess fluid out.
Is that how it is supposed to be done, right?
They don't have to be done separately, right? The pan and torque converter can be drained altogether and refill at once?

I upload all of documents of ATF change were pulled from MB WIS on my webpage https://www.leighsr.com/atf-change-7229
You might see the sequence is on the link above.

Yes, I have that link bookmarked, just hadn't had the chance to read through all of it yet. I'm going to bleed the brake fluid first and then focus on the ATF change.
Another question, the pump I saw you use is from Home Depot, what was the size of the tube that you connected to the pump and the filler adapter? Also, I don't have the XENTRY tool, it's quite expensive, what's the other method to check the ATF temperature? I take it that the temp gun isn't as accurate.
