2nd Row Headrests, Wagon vs. Sedan, Fixed vs. Adjustable

I'm in need of a second row (driver's side) rear headrest for a '11 E350 wagon as the inner support is broken... leading to a floppy headrest. I ordered a used replacement on eBay (was going to swap the cover), but what I received was a fixed headrest (no tilt). The rear headrests in the wagon (both sides, not center) can tilt and the inner plastic support is an opaque white. The replacement doens't tilt and has a black inner support (visable thru holes in cover that the metal support rods go thru.

So I got to thinking... maybe I got a sedan second row headrest and maybe they don't tilt?

Anybody with a sedan? Do your rear headrests tilt?

Here's some pics of the inner frames, the white opaque frame was from my '11 E350 wagon and it has visible slots around the guide rods to allow tilting. Whereas the replacement, has a black frame and the slot is filled and doesn't allow for tilting.

I guess nobody has a sedan....

The seller of the replacement headrest did confirm it came from a 2013 E350 wagon with corresponding VIN and pictures. Something I noticed earlier, but now I'm thinking it may not necessarily be a sedan vs. wagon issue. The replacement headrest is stamped with "USA" on the guide rod, whereas mine had no such stamp. So maybe it has something to do with US vs. Euro regulations or simply a MY change.

I ended up removing the excess material in the "slot" and made a tilt-able headrest. Good enough.

I saw this thread and out of boredom did your “mod” to my 2016 US spec E350 sedan. It’s cool!

I saw that picture of the black one with the grid and thought "he ought to just cut that part out, make his own tilt-o-rest" and lo and behold, you did!

My wagon didn't have the rear facing 3rd row headrests. I saw that the rear seat rests worked in the same holes, so I bought a set of rear set head rests (because rear-facing 3rd row seat headrests are impossible to find) from Ebay. When they arrived I realized that what I already had in my rear seats actually were the 3rd row headrests! So now I have the whole proper set. Surprise win!
