CPO Extended Warranty
Do we have the CPO Extended Warranty coverage, or a link to it, posted here on the forum somewhere?
Things I'm concerned about: subwoofer amplifier fan under rear deck in trunk, rear sun shade catches when going up/down, parking brake pedal is sticking again (replaced 3 months ago), passenger sun visor mirror assy came apart - I snapped back together but...

I had a service appt scheduled for these items back in March before the covid lockdown, but my employer mandated a 75 mile radius and the closest dealer is ~100 miles away.

I have a copy of the CPO extension contract which should be the same. It reads as though it should cover the sound system stuff, but not sure about the sunshade. The parking brake it simple even if they won't cover it.

Thanks LILBENZ, I really appreciate it!
My c230 had issues with the sunshade early on. It looked like a nightmare to fix so I just stopped using it.
The Sales guy for the E was proud to show me the rear sunshade and I commented on how they always break. That's what led to the CPO warranty discussion, and him saying it was the same thing as the new car warranty. I'm going to mention that if they give me grief. It was literally the very first time I tried the sunshade - went up OK then hung up on the way down. I went up and down a few times and it finally retracted fully so I left it alone.
Yeah, I asked them about just lubing the parking brake before they replaced it. I'm sure they needed to make their time worth it so replaced. Have the video saved, but I'll try to do a neater job if I have to do it. Pondering just going ahead and lubing myself because I really don't want them tearing things apart again to replace the whole assy another time.

A lot of exclusions has me doubting keeping the 2 year extension. It doesn't activate till October and is fully refundable. Doug Demuro (I despise him but nonetheless) recently sold his CPO E63 wagon and said they denied every claim he made. I do not believe your sunshade will be covered. No issues with it in my W212 and my W203 never had issues either. I had my 2005 C230k till it was 7 years old and had 146k miles and the sunshade always worked fine. It's apparently pretty labor intensive to replace it.
Now they should cover the amplifier, though.

CPO is just meant to give peeps the warm fuzzys when they buy a used car for more money then normal used car....
I will say others have better CPO warranties.
PS this is funny when thinking of how MB Corporate and Local Service depts treat their customer's.

So no ripoff here on the CPO car. It was the better deal all around. But my car factory warranty expires 10/11/20 and the standard CPO expires 10/11/21 and the extension 2 years after. I'm not sure I won't cancel the extension.

I have had my CPO car and also have had CPO Extended Warranty. They covered the following: (hoping this is useful data point)
Original CPO Warranty:
1. Frozen parking brake release lever
2. Panoroof popping sound - fixed on second try
3. Torn MB Tex seat cover - only covered 10% and dealer covered 50% and I paid the rest.
4. Cracked turbo boot
5. Main battery - covered 100% because it died too quickly after purchasing the CPO car
Extended CPO Warranty:
1. Engine and transmission mounts
2. Soot sensor replacement
3. Headliner remove and reinstall due to squeaking noise.
it's a very fragile car.....

LILBENZ - yes I do think they're covered. 3.3.15 Electrical system verbage includes 'sensors'. You should be good.
Interesting mellonc. Hoping mine's not as fragile... I assume the CPO and Extended CPO are the same coverage?

I would disagree completely with the idea that the W212 is fragile. By its very nature - it is a livery car in Europe. Sure, the suspension and the engines are different, but the basics are the same. It is not perfect in terms of luxury, that I will agree with. But this is not my first Mercedes and they have all been a bit industrial, for lack of a better term. I find that to make them feel robust, though.

How many miles on your vehicle? If under 50K, you should be eligible for Diamond coverage from CarShield. This is basically a bumper-to-bumper coverage (essentially a new car warranty) for the duration. I recently purchased one for my CLS400, and it’ll cost $109/month. Well worth it as far as I’m concerned. Maybe not in the first few years, but a life saver down the road.

It’s month to month for as long as I have the car. This was important to me for several reasons:
1) I have almost 2 yrs remaining on my CPO, and likely will not need the CarShield warranty for awhile. However, if I waited to get the warranty, I would be over 50K miles and not eligible for their best coverage.
2) wanted to make sure CarShield wasn’t going to raise my rates as the mileage on my car entered the higher mileage territory.

They’re consistently rated among the best. To each his own. I guess we’ll see your future posts when you have $3500 repair bill that’s OOW. But each of us does have to weigh the costs/risks, right? For some, $109/month is not cost effective or justified.

But if you go to the dealer for all repairs, I suppose I could see the appeal of a warranty.

These aftermarket warranties are rarely worth the cost of the paper the contract is printed on. Our credit unions offer what is considered to be one of the industry gold standards, but when you read the fine print there are ways out of them paying for any expensive thing.
As for the warranty that DRJOHN is pushing, that would not cover any LED lighting. One LED headlamp assembly on my car would be way over $1000 at a dealer.
Just not worth it.

My oldest daughter has a VW EOS 2012, she loves it but lives in AZ and I'm back in Cleveland now, so she got the Car Shield plan and 4-5 moths later she had a timing chain issue that required a new head, got that fixed but claim denied, she then had an issue with the Variable Cam Timing, also claim denied. She got rid of Car Shield, totally worthless for her.

In fact, with a moderate bump on the road, the wheel alignment goes out of whack so easily.
today in the dealer again, for steering wheel creaking noise. I think that'll be covered under CPO extended warranty.
