2016 E350 4matic
New member with a simple Question

I have been changing oil on my cars for over fifty years. This is the first time that I can not locate oil drain plug. Is there one on 16 E350 4 matic, or must it be vacuumed out? Have removed all three road shields and even cleaned my glasses. At a lost .

Since the oil filter is on top of the engine, you would find vacuuming the oil from above to be easy to do and easy on the knees, and your glasses.

I've changed oil the old way for decades, too. Buy your first topsider pump and you'll never go back.

I see they now make a pneumatic version that operates from an air source (no manual pumping). Even better...

Bob - do you do the oil changes on your E350? Been debating that myself. Got 800 miles to decide...

Yes. I've used a Mityvac once a year on the 2001 C320, and two years now on the E350. If the oil filter were low on the engine block like other car brands, it wouldn't make sense, since you have to get under the car to remove the oil filter anyway. However, since the oil filter is on top with most MBs, using the topsider makes a lot of sense. Just loosen the filter cap to permit air to enter, then pump the old oil from the dipstick. Easy peasy, and not at all messy like crawling under...

I've started a new thread on the options between a manual topsider and one powered by compressed air. If you have time to decide, let's see who replies with their experiences. My old manual unit is getting old (I think the rubber o-rings might be leaking a little), so I have to continuously pump it to keep the vacuum going. So it might be my time to buy a newer unit myself, and the compressor powered one might be the ticket for this retired guy with two knee replacements.

Highly recommended! Link to the thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...extractor.html

Sorry to hijack this thread. Just posting options to crawling under the car.

I'm lucky, my buddy has a lift in his garage, but this is how he changes his oil. With a pump from up top. I like to look under the car as this is the only opportunity I get to check it out. also I like to dump a half-quart in at the end of draining to get the last of the sludge out. maybe a waste of oil but makes me happy.
