After 5 years of my 05'w211 E500 estate i decided to start the hunt for a replacement. My thoughts were to convert the suspension on the wagon and gift it to my daughter for her 16th. It has been one of the very best cars i have ever owned (and she loves it).
I knew i wanted another E class and looked for something comparable to the wagon. Well make it shorter and enter the 2013 E550. Found a 2 owner low mileage locally. I do like the power...little mushy on the turns compared to the wagon. Overall incredibly impressive machine. I believe this one to be a low optioned 550 with standard suspension. It has all the bells and whistles other than distronic, parking aid, night vision and a margarita machine.
I truly hope i get the same experience as i did from the 500.
I wish we could still get the V8 on the 212 wagon like the 211. Yes, I know E63 exists but it's also $120k optioned properly when new... E550 wagon would have been perfect for me but I had to settle for the 350.
Congratulations. The E550 is a great car. I have one myself and just love the engine. It is very powerful and gets great fuel economy on the highway around town not so much.
