Turbo Whistle E63s -14
any one knowing why i got turbo whistle?
during acceleration during low speed you hear turbo whistle, and if you rev the engine at neutral you can here some whistle fron left side engine. Any ideas how to pressuretest the turbo system?
But, i m not sure how loud is yours. Or how it sounds.
Does it just happened recently ?
Does the car drives funny ?
To pressure test, you will have to take off the hose from boost control unit. And hook up the hose with vacuum pump tester.
This hose is connected to both of your turbos. Start vacuum test, see if the vacuum pressure drops.
This is the way testing both turbo
Or you can do one turbo at a time.

my turbo sound like supercharger at low speed and high gear, but can not hear anything during lower gear and higher rpm
Mine was at 1.3 bar, i have also tried 1.5 bar or more, then Overboost condition CEL will lite.
It had under boost code twice, but it was broken hose causing boost leak.
By the way, different tune will have different whistle timing from turbo. Just so you know.

i also installed fullflow filters and installed silicone hose for air intake instead of the sofe intake pipe which is original.
The turbo sound like swooosh with superchargersound combined.

thx you for taking time, it sound like that yes, but from the engine area, not from exhaust sound.

My car was PITA to tweak. I had to dig into my engine bay so often to adjust Watergate actuators. Tweaking it.
I swear that was the best lower back exercise...
Yes
that sound is from engine bay.
Not from exhaust.
I was just recoding exhaust sound.
But because I had downpipe and no muffler.
That's why the whistle sound is loud enough you can hear it from anywhere.
I would think your car is fine.
And you don't feel funny when driving.
If you are worried, do pressure test on both turbo with vacuum pump kit. I bet you don't see leak from it.
I did tons of tweaks on turbo

I can still hear it inside the car, but not as loud from outside.
During cold start, I don't hear it. It's loud AF.
Then, i can hear it when cold start about to settle down.
My car got turbo upgraded, tuned, downpipe and lots.
m157, m278 can handle up to 1.5 bar.
but stable at 1.3 bar. That's where my car was set to.
Anything above that....god bless

were at workshop just a half an hour ago and pressuretested the turbo pipe etc. No leakage found.

It is different sound than mine.
The sound just like you said, sounds like super charger machine sound.
Now, that's weird.
So, this sound happened after tuned ??
I am wondering, if that the high pressure fuel pump sound. But it is in front of passenger side.
And if it has issue, CEL will also lite.
By the way, who tuned your car ?
no cel i on, wounder if my catalysator is cloggd or broken that cause this sound or if its a leak between turbopipe and downpipe because i think i hear the whistle sound more under car than from the front? Shuld go to workshop tomorrow and lift the car up.

Let's wait and see.
I would also like to add that whenever you "free up" airflow on the filter side of a turbo the sounds become more pronounced. You will hear spool up from the engine bay and the "flutter" of charge air stacking as you snap off throttle. Just make sure you are not using wet filters. MAFS hate filter oil.
