Low droning sound...

Low droning sound...
I have a 2014 E350 Sport Sedan with about 100k on it. I’ve had it since basically new and I just noticed a low droning sound coming from, I believe, the rear of the car. I thought it was tires as the rears were to the wear indicators. I replaced them but the sound is still there. The car is a highway car and that’s where I hear it the most. I’ve shifted into N at speed to see if there was any change, and there was not. Maybe it’s always been there, but I think it’s relatively new. I know about road noise etc, but this is different. Any ideas?

The only time I had a low droning noise was/is when a rim was slightly bent just enough to not shake but drone in this car.
In a previous Lexus LS400 many moons ago - low droning noise from the back = time to replace the rear differential gear oil. Very easy fix. And considering the rear-bias of the 4Matic on these cars, if you’ve not replaced that gear oil within the last 40-50k miles, or especially if never at all by now, then I’d say put the $100 towards that first and soon. And while it’s on the rack, ask the guys to spin the wheels and look for any signs of a bend.
