Why has my ASSYST display changed?

I had my '14 W212 in for an issue that ended up with them replacing the head unit under warranty and upgrading the software to the most recent version. When I got the car back, instead of indicating the service interval in miles it had changed to days, and showed "A1" service instead of whatever was due (car has almost 110,000 miles and every service has been done, so it's pretty far from A1). I figured, OK, when they did the update it wiped the memory. No big deal.

Just did the next "A" service that was due and I did reset the service interval. I notice now, two weeks later, it's still showing service due in 350 days, not 9000 miles (or whatever the mileage should be).

What gives? How do I get this back to miles? There's no setting I can find.

My facelift W212 has always shown days, not miles.

I thought it would revert to that if you didn't drive the car much, but as you can tell from my mileage the car is driven every day.

My 2016 changes between days and miles.. it depends on how much you drive the car. Before the COVID shut downs, mine was counting down miles. After the shut downs, it went to counting days. As things opened back up, it went back to counting miles.

I don't think it matters if you drive it daily so much as it matters the daily average.

Make sense to US lawyers who made the 1 year oil change requirement.
I don't drive a lot, so I write the oil change in maintenance book and if I get the time message having 5000 miles since oil change, I reset it and give it another year.
Just discover that on Sprinter the program give 20,000 miles or 2 years.

Mine was also first showing days, like almost a year but after I started driving lots of miles it went to show miles.

This is good to know. I didn't know the car was smart enough to choose between days and miles.

Quite popular in several sections are "hidden gems" topics.
MB puts so much technology in the cars, that they don't even list it in manual as it would overwhelm average owner.
