AFAIK the overall diameter of w213 tyres are 1 inch bigger than w212.
Of course it doesnt matter if you just buy the rims.

245/45r18 on 18x8.5 +48 is the stock size wheel and tire on the front of my 2012 E550. They will fit with no issues.

The E550 does not have a flared fender up front. The E63 stock tire is 255 as opposed to the 245. The 255 fits due to the flared fender, although some have stuffed that 255 up front with certain wheels on normal E class

The common tyre sizes of w212 in Hong Kong are 225/55/16 and 245/45/17 ( and of course many other sizes up to 20 inches rims), they all give a 653mm overall diameter.
For w213 in Hong Kong, they have tyre sizes like 245/45/18, which have overall diameter 678mm, that is 1 inch / 25mm bigger.
Some members think w213 wheels (tyres + rims) won't fit w212, especially the front, l think there is still 2-3mm gap remains between the wheel and the spring base ....
Photo is my W212 using 245/40-18 has already this close a tire thread to mcphearson strut spring base. FRONT only, rear is no worry. My rear is now on 9mm taller rubber, which is 255/40-18 instead of 265/35-18
So bigger diameter TIRE caused by 45 aspect ratio, a 245/45-18 , the difference divided by 2 = X millimeters of taller rubber towards the spring base.
Spring base is fixed height.
