2011 E550 Motor Mounts Replaced

I recently had some transmission work done on my car under the Old Republic warranty.
The MB shop I went to got replacing motor mounts included on the same claim (although seems unrelated) ... so now I have new motor mounts at 60,000 miles (100,000 Km).
The service rep said “I would notice a huge difference” ...
I have been without the car for a month - because of shop error they had to replace the steering rack as well (no charge to me).
So I notice first - the extra power over my 1999 SL500.
But what exactly do new motor mounts do for a car? There were no vibrations or noises - that I recall.
Other MBWorld posts say cars with new motor mounts drive way better.
One of the reasons I ask is - mount replacement was recommended in 2013, 42,000 miles (70,000 Km) on my SL ... and she still runs fine.
Am I missing something? Sounded like a MB shop mske work project.

Are you 100% sure the mounts were in fact replaced? Can you post a photo of the service invoice?

Motor mounts isolate the vehicle from powertrain noise and vibration. If you didn’t have problems before, and now don’t notice a difference, either your old mounts were still OK or you don’t have new mounts.

Pretty much the last sentence sums it up here

The portion of the bill to do with mounts;

maybe I am accustomed to having a bit of steering wheel vibration. There never has been any noises.

Why would Old Republic rep (who did visit the shop to verify the claim) go for a replacement under warranty if not required?

Thanks. If you have new mounts in the vehicle, as the service invoice indicates, and you notice no changes, then the old mounts must have been functioning normally.

they will collapse slightly and have kind of a built in gauge. once the mounting point is not protruding a certain distance above the mount, it is considered 'bad' and should be replaced before failure occurs. Part of MB maintenance/service. I won't pretend to remember the measurement spec...

I do notice very subtle differences.
The car feels more solid ... and maybe less vibration through the steering wheel.
The power is quite a big difference from the SL500 I have been driving for a month - so that is my overwhelming response to getting the E550 back.

The MB Service Manager wrote to me to say that wit new front maroon mounts “You should feel engine running smooth/smother at idle!”

It perhaps does seem a bit smoother - but a pretty subtle difference.
