Basically the death rate for Covid is probably around 1%, I think it was higher in the beginning maybe more like 4-6% when the hospitals were overwhelmed. That might happen again. So far the death rate from this vaccine is 0 but I'm sure it'll be much lower than those who didn't get the vaccine.
Back on topic, I drove from Northern NJ to Marco island in 18 hours and 14 minutes. Averaged 74.4 mph. Got 42.5 mpg (calculated, not from the optimistic trip computer)
I stopped for fuel once near Savannah which is disappointing because I wanted to make it all the way to Florida before getting fuel... I usually have just less than half a tank still when I arrive.
2016 E250 diesel.
The 301 route in Florida is superior. Watch the low speed limits in the towns, they police are pretty strict. I get off 301 and pick up 75 just north of Ocala.

I think those 268k dead American would say otherwise regarding the risk. As mentioned earlier, some people are just bad at math.
The fear of the unknown is more dangerous than the known. Vaccines are also different than other drugs or therapies that have long term effects when you take them on a regular basis. It's basically gone from your body after a few days. Maybe odds of 1 in 10 million or 100 million. Versus the current death rate in the US which is approaching a tenth of a percent of the population. The danger of dying in a car accident would be higher than some possible long term effects.

There's actually several other vaccines in the works, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson are also working on a few that are not mRNA ones but those will take longer to bring to market. Now if you want to talk risky, try the Russian or Chinese vaccine, no phase 3 testing done before release.

My wife's cousin died of Covid just last week. And as mentioned earlier in this thread, well-known MBWorld forum member and contributor "tommy" Powell died last April (age 54).
To date, more than 270,000 Americans have died from it, which – in just 10 months -- is nearly 67% of the 408,000 Americans who died – in 45 months – during WWII, fighting to protect your right to have a dismissive opinion.
My guess (just a guess) is that you were born after the Apollo moon landings (1969-1972) and probably dismiss that history as a hoax, too.

Mercedes-Benzes still appeal primarily to older people, who are more likely at risk of complications and death from this virus. So, to state that the risk of dying from this virus is “vastly overstated” is alarming to me and I assume many others.

If you are afraid of the virus and have co-morbidities, stay home, wear a mask.

LOL. Since June 2009, the US Lunar Reconnaisance Orbiter (LRO) satellite has mapped 99% of the lunar surface, looking for future landing sites. In doing so, it has captured HD images of all the previous moon landings... Put on your tin hat and watch this...

Back on topic, I wouldn't want to drive 1,200 miles on the moon in my W212 Mercedes. It wouldn't be too comfy, I wouldn't get too far, and the car wash/detailing bill would be horrendous. Besides, no moon landing hoaxster would believe it possible to send a car into space, right?

I would prefer Def Leppard's 1987 hit, "Rocket" as appropriate, but NASA's budget probably doesn't include funds for ASCAP or BMI royalty clearances.

Best left to the G wagon, LOL. although we got 18" of snow overnight and my wife went out before the snowplower got here, she made it down the 200' driveway but the grill was all blocked up with snow including the DRL's, and she plowed snow while backing out, I have a perfect snow rendering of the back end at the driveway edge! it's melting now in the heated garage

Good thing I have 4matic, I will pay the extra repair costs, yes I remember shutting everything down for days over 2 inches! Not in Cleveland, we will get another six inches tonight from Lake Effect, everyone goes to work anyway.

Wow, you guys sure took this one in a whole new direction! It went from a visit to Del Boca Vista (Phase II), to the moon (allegedly), through Contagion, around the corner to wartime, and now back again. Ha!! I’m guessing someone is just dying to say the word “Trump”! Ha!! 😂
guess we’re about due for a “which oil brand is best” thread soon!

I grew up in 4 seasons and still remember shoveling snow on winter mornings.
For now, I rather enjoy "Las Vegas freezing" who is 50F with full sun.
Amazingly with no clouds and no wind, 50F is T-shirt day when we sweat hiking

Fifty degrees is perfect T-shirt and shorts temperature for running. Sometimes you get odd looks from people who are all bundled up for winter as you run by them.

Several years ago, we awoke to 5-6 inches of snow on Christmas day morning. It was all melted by noon.

So true. I moved from "up north" to Texas 20+ years ago. I have yet to acquire the Texas chills over colder weather that the natives complain about. I regularly am out and about in a T-shirt in 50° weather, when all about me are bundled in layers to keep warm. I've kept a brand new London Fog overcoat in the hall closet for Winter weather, and have yet to wear it.

Yes, Naples at sunset, my buddy has a condo there on the ocean. Gorgeous!. But so is evening fishing and drinking Shiner Bock on Lewisville Lake. I also had clients in Albany Georgia, Hoffman Estates Illinois and Eden North Carolina, Closest I ever got to Vegas was Henderson, was there three months renovating their WW treatment plant, I do love the desert!
Come to think of it, Whidby Island and Bellingham Washington were pretty awesome too, but Naples still wins!
