PO088 code

Hello fellas, Yesterday my "SEL" pops and after scanning I got code PO088 (Fuel rail system pressure too high) and noticed the sensor is located at the fuel rail next to the oil cap.

My car is a 2014 E250 BT

Has anyone tackle this with replacing the sensor and fix the issue or is there more to it?

TIA

As long as the car is functioning properly, first thing to do is to clear the code and wait... to see if the code (ever) returns.

I would not start throwing parts in the engine bay until it's proven to be a persistant code problem.

OK, that's good. Next step is to wait for others to respond, because I did a forum search on this code and found NOTHING, which is VERY odd.

Either the sensor is bad, wiring to sensor or the actual fuel pressure is too high. Do you have access to a scanner with live data?

How about measuring the fuel rail pressure with a gauge?

There you go... and check that against the sensor with live data would rule it out. I was thinking his car was a diesel, so whether is has a fuel rail port and then the pressure you'd be dealing with.

Doubt that this is a possible repair but the reason that the fuel pressure would be high and the pump need replacing is that there must be a pressure regulator built into the pump. Wondering if that can be replaced / repaired on it's own.

UPDATE, after replacing the fuel pump and driving the car for a few weeks, the cars performance and MPG when down and an engine vibration. Toke it back and the Mechanic says I need a new fuel rail that will cost me another $1600 My extended warranty will cover only half that.
After the replacement of fuel rail, car still running like **** and the ENGINE LITE came on with a PO2002. (Dirty DPF)
At this point, if the car is not fixed properly, This guys is taking a trip with me to the court house soon

I miss my car

I'm with bmwpowere36m What is wrong with the fuel rail? Seems like an excuse to change another part to me. Is there a fuel rail pressure sensor? Has that been tested? Has the FRP sensor CIRCUIT been tested?

Well, bad news. The repair cost me $2,800.00 (fuel rail and fuel pump) and now the car runs very rich which damaged the DPF and O2 sensor
The mechanic told me I need to go to the dealer to have the PCM re-flashed ($400) and the car still running like crap.
Then he said that is an emission system defect and it can be replace for free as for FEDERAL EMISSION LAW.

I cant believe a got hosed by this guy. Hes going to court soon

Im so pissed
