Factory Wheel Sizes and Tire Rotations
This is the first in a series of questions I have about my car. I would like to swap out the wheels on my car to the "10 spoke 5 star" style wheel (don't know how else to describe it) that also came on the E550 coupes. I think they look more sporty (to me) than the ones that came on my car (12 spoke 6 star). I have searched salvage yards and see they are readily available. My question is I see 18x8 wheels and 18x8.5 wheels in the same style. Just to confirm, are the 18x8 for the front and the 18x8.5 for the back? As for the tire size that I plan to use on these wheels, I plan on using the same size wheel that are on the existing wheels I have (235/40/18 - Front and 255/35/18 - Back).
Also - A bit of a strange (and possibly idiotic) question, but I have to ask. With regards to tire rotations, how does that work? Do I just swap the left tire to the right and vice-versa? They definitely can't go from the front to back since they are different sizes.
Thank you in advance!

ah, looks like the coupe/cabriolets came with offset wheel sizes at least in various random sampled years from the brochures..

new to forum but have also been researching a lot re tires for my recently acquired 2012 E550 cabrio.
The staggered set up was an option and I do have it on my merc. I have the optional 5 twin spoke rims as shown in the original brochure.
225x40R18 ET45 FR and 25535R18 ET 49 Rears. Unfortunately mine were poorly painted matte black so I am refinishing back to original gloss black and polished face.
My question is does anyone know the max width and proper offset that can be used if one was to choose to go to a 19 inch 9.5 rear rim without causing issues.

Mercedes already warns that 18" wheels are subject to damage on bad roads. 19's are even worse (ok, more than the rim size, its the corresponding tire profile, your 19's will probably take /30 tires which have very small sidewalls and need very high pressures)
