Seeking advice: ‘14 e550 or ‘16 e350

I am seeking some perspectives on buying a new to me used car. I currently own a 2011 e350 and am buying another car for the household as we have another driver.

The two cars i have narrowed down to are:
’14 e550 with 34k miles
’16 e350 with 8k miles

Both are one-owner, clean carfax. Pricing is similar on both, with the ‘16 being slightly more expensive. Clearly the 550 is better equipped but is now outdated by two newer model cycles.

Appreciate any insights, advice, wisdom.

2014 E350 also restored: 1969 Camaro convertible SS 1957 Chevy Belair 2dr hardtop
I would choose the 16 with the lower miles

Welcome.

I'm biased as I have an E550, but it is a great bang for the buck. Check out the W212 forum for more insights https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w212-109/

Welcome! General rule of thumb is to buy the newest and lowest mileage vehicle that meets your budget and transportation requirements. The V6 in the E350 is arguably the most reliable Mercedes engines in the past 10 years or more. The V8 in the E550, while fun, guzzles gas and has been known to have some problems.
