Exclamation Neck-pro removed! Airbag Malfunction!!!

Hi, I'm new around here, not had a Mercedes for too long, actually only had it 3 weeks, and i have ended up fitting aftermarket rear seat entertainment (Xtrons 9") for the younger ones.

However after i wired up the rear screens, routed the power from the 12V power supply, removed the pop-out mechanism and wired them into the back of 12V outlet, this leaves full functionality of the outlet, I was happy and turned on my ignition to find that i had both left and right airbag malfunction, I know this is because i removed the neck-pro headrest and disconnected the yellow sensor. Is there anyway to trick the car into thinking its still plugged in?

And with the OME Headrest removed and malfunction showing, will this disable all my airbags? I am a little worried, if all my airbags get disabled then i will put the OEM's back in straight away? This is my greatest concern that all my airbags will not work because of the malfunction

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

That's actually unknown and there is no real way of determining how your airbag system will function without crash testing the car.

All the systems are integrated and a failure of one will cause some sort of a failure of the rest of the system.

The aftermarket entertainment system is not suitable for your car and you should take it back to the store that sold it.

I think there is an iPad attachment that works with NeckPRO but you may need to research this further. Remember that the headrest is an integral part of the safety system intended to keep your head in the appropriate position during a crash.

MB has a retrofit system that's pretty nice. Kinda pricey but you won't have these issues. These cars are full of safety features so it takes some investigation before doing these things. Not your typical automobiles.

Correct. Pricey is certainly better than sacrificing safety.

Disabling integrated safety features for the sake of rear seat entertainment does not sound like a good trade-off to me.

With so many handheld devices available for entertainment today, why would anyone actually install something into any car?

Yeah, you're right, I've taken them off and am looking into just some detachable/portable ones, I found some with the Android system and they look pretty good, + they wont interfere with the airbag system etc.. Id rather be safe than be crumpled with a movie playing in the back

Thanks again - Appreciate it!

You can trick the system by installing resistors at the ends of the yellow plugs. This tricks the system into thinking the neckpro system is still there.

Right. Are you willing to risk the OP's life on an untested trick? Sure you are since it isn't your life.

Whenever a system is compromised, there is no way of telling how the rest of the system will react. Sure, the resistors may turn the light off but what proof do you have that the rest of the system will work as intended?

I'll bet that whoever designed that workaround didn't crash test the car to make sure the rest of the system still functions as intended - and that is the only way to be sure.

Have you done this personally? I've seen some articles that say the common resistor trick/bypass doesn't work for Neck Pro.

I would not recommend trying to trick any part of the W212 SRS system, though, FWIW.

Mine is a 2015 W207 E400. I did a resistor bypass on the knee airbag and front seat belts. Worked great. W212? I'm sure lots of people have done it.

Why would you do this exactly?

I purchased it remotely from an auction in another country. It had a hit to the front passenger side and a few error codes that I had to deal with before I could import it. This was the quickest and least costly route until it gets to me. Then I could do all the fine tuning.
