Yes, that's truly the good stuff. But if it's not available I use Liquimoly.

Agreed also! If you follow the 95RON minimum octane requirement, those fuels contain greater quantities of cleaning additives hence why they're recommended by the manufacturer for daily use.

note that 95 RON is approximately 91 AKI ((R+M)/2) which is the octane system used in the USA

I advocate for top tier, but Mercedes engineers these cars to run in all sort of environments and with all sorts of fuel qualities. Running top tier fuel here is plenty enough, even if you don't run it every time (I do not).

I'd be weary IF you have a turbocharged engine on fuel grade. There is a marketable difference in how the car behaves on 87 rather than 93. Detonation is very destructive to a boosted engine. As far as additives go, techron has been out there for decades and I used it in my turbo Buick once or twice a year. When i was an advisor we were pushing BG product. There's a fuel additive for non DFI cars and for DFI. Both work just fine, meaning they won't hurt and they won't measurably help. The DFI formula was able to temporarily fix misfires, but 99% of GM consumers use the lowest grade possible and the CEL would return within a month. Out of experience I would just use top tier (as suggested) and run a bottle of techron through once or twice a year.

You quoted my post but I don't see where I mentioned octane levels in regards to Mercedes. These cars require premium, that's what mine gets. I said top tier fuels should negate the need for additives.

My octane comment about Elantra cars was that people sometimes put 93 in cars that do not need it because they "feel good" about it, even though it is pointless.

Sorry for the confusion. I used your post and referenced another in addition. I do not disagree with anything in your post.

Since Octane has come up, something I know at least Techron does, is boost Octane - so there's another benefit!

I personally use Liqui-Moly Jectron Fuel Injection Cleaner every now and then and Shell 91 Octane Gas

Techron! I've been using it for 28 years on all my vehicles including toyotas. After the vehicle reaches 70k miles, I start using the Techron high mileage. I get better gas mileage and a smoother running engine. At the half full mark , a fill up and 1 bottle keeps it smooth and efficient!

Any Top Tier fuel has the equivalent of Techron in it. Techron is various light distillates plus Polyetheramine (PEA) (detergent), polyether amines, and 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene
