Question Homelink Programming on E350

I have programmed numerous vehicles for the Homelink garage door opener in the past but for some reason cannot successfully program my 2012 E350. I have followed the instructions in the manual to the letter and tried both methods (using remote control and signal from garage door opener motor) a dozen times. If anyone else has experienced this problem and has a solution please let me know. Thank you.

Search the site. It is always 100% user error.
There is nothing special with a Mercedes. The entire operation is Homelink.

I just bought brand new Chamberlain garage door opener last week. I cleared out the codes on my 2010 e350 and tried to program the new one Chamberlain to it. I tried for hours across two days and can’t get it to sync. When I first got my car 2 years ago, I was able to quickly sync it to my old garage door opener. I called homelink and they told me since my new garage opener has Homelink 2.0, it’s not compatible with my car and that I need to buy a Repeater (see attached link). Apparently, any MB prior to 2012 will not be compatible with this newer 2.0.

This is good to know for when the time comes to replace the garage door opener. I'll have to consult the owner's manual to see if my 2016 is HomeLink 2.0 compatible.

EDIT: The owner's manual offers no information regarding compatibility with HomeLink versions. It only punts the question to the HomeLink website. Typical...

After upgrading to a new Chamberlain a few years ago, I was not able to program the left button on my '12 E350 to work that was working on my prior opener. Eventually, I tried the middle button and got it working in minutes. Still don't know why the first button did not want to work.

Good luck!
