But in this “me, me, me, it’s all about me” society we have today, some insist that “news” be bent to fit their agenda, like a personalized, over-the-top wardrobe.
IMO, 24-hour cable networks – and the need to fill airtime – is the worst thing to ever happen to “news.” In the ‘80s and ‘90s, CNN ran genuine, half-hour newscasts (real news) repeated on the half-hour and updated 24/7. But those days are now gone.
In response to the faker competition, legitimate news has succumbed to laziness… it’s far easier to hire opinionated studio commentators than to finance a network of reporters in the field running down real stories. Too bad the few that still report real news get smothered in the same swill bucket with the recent explosion of “news entertainment” operators, most privately owned who do not answer to a board of directors to report facts. And the last few political cycles have only reinforced the fantasy... shamelessly.

So now a simple thread on Gasoline prices gets distracted with worthless, political crap, based on lies.

Checking my "Gas Buddy" app just now, it appears the price gap between Reg and Prem in N. Texas is now a solid 50¢, a 5¢ or so increase, in just one day.
Good I won't need gas until late next month, hehe.
