2014 - W212.065 - E400 ( M276.820, 3 liter Turbo) RWD not Hybrid
Actually for my climate, tropical + bumper to bumper traffic jam , I often open up my hood when I reached home and always do so while cooling down at the pit/parking when I mess
around on the race track for fun 3 laps at a time. The heat radiation from the engine block is easy 120C.
In fact just above the turbo heat shield like +5cm up, after casual driving and 5 minutes engine shutdown, I still read 145C.
The reason is simple. V6 with ECU in the middle of the V bank has a bad reputation for killing ECU by heat, that is a true case for many M272 engine in W211 in my country.
Sure probably the death by heat is 10 years or a bit more, but still a pain $$ wise.
W211 with smaller engine has ECU on the side and does not have that issue.
I once maintained a pair of Caterpillar 3412 12V 1,300HP marine diesel with ECU placed at a kind of "stupid position" and both engines had the ECU died at 7th and 8th years respectively.
Later on the wire harness developed unique problem at the port/left engine, when run 4+ hours, engine will shut down ... LOL.
Electronics at cooler temperature = longer life, that is a fact.
