Command Audio Console Switch - Back Button
Does any body have encountered that the back button on Command Audio Console Switch is stuck all the way down and will not function anymore? I have Mercedes ELW but they are saying there is foreign substance in the buttons causing them to stick and not covered under warranty. We have not spilled any liquids and its 2014E350 and apparently never had this issue before. I am not sure how foreign substance can get in there. Is it worth calling ELW customer service or try another dealership? The ELW will expire in about 2 weeks. The parts dept quoted $706 plus tax for it. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Ah, the ever popular "foreign material in the switch" excuse. Probably because the cupholders are nearby, and any route from cupholder to lips transits the BACK button below. Sure you haven't spilled coffee there?
I would try another dealership. I can remove that console and replace that switch in less than 20 minutes. No way it costs more than $700.
Rather than a hammer, I would try a hot, moist facecloth.
