What type of front spring on E220 CDI
What type of front spring on E220 CDI
Can anyone tell me what are the OEM springs on the front of E220 CDI sedan. The I have got now are H&R 29076 which I guessing are not original, that are all blue and I am looking to raise the front a bit because I had a huge problems in winter especially. It is bad now that the snow is gone anyway. I will add the my wheels are 19" 235/35

It's complicated, there are a number of springs used based on engine options and sport or luxury, best to use your VIN to find out what you should have or did originally. sounds like someone installed lowering springs.

You need to punch the vin into EPC and it will tell you the right part number for it. They also have a color code on the springs, but of course you wouldn't know what the originals were. You can get a knock off copy of EPC/WIS on eBay, usually around $10.

i haven't looked specifically at w212 springs, but on a w124, there were at least 3 different suspension options, (high clearance for countries with rough roads, sportline, regular), then for each option, there were 2-3 different front springs, and a dozen different thickness spring pads, and a table in the parts catalog where you add points for each option you have, starting with a baseline for the engine and chassis version you have, and the resulting score was looked up in a table, which would tell you what spring, and which spacer pad. same thjing for the rear springs, but the option points were different (some options put more weight in front, others in the middle, and others in the rear).

if you don't have EPC access (actually, its now called XEntry Parts Information, EPC was the old system), feel free to post your VIN here, and one of us with access can look it up for you.

ok, lets see... your data card is...
Vehicle identification number (VIN) WDD2120021A017650
Vehicle model E 220 CDI Sedan / E 220 d Sedan
Order number 0927802607
Production number 8017937

EC approval number e1*2001/116*0501*00

don't worry about those codes, they represent every option your car had from the factory, I just need them on this screen so I can interpret the parts catalog entries on my other screen...
option 485 in there is DIRECT CONTROL Suspension, which I believe is the 'comfort' suspension.
ok, your fronts....
and of course, 19" wheels are undoubtedly NOT stock, I would expect a E220 diesel to have come with either 16 or 17" wheels, either of which would give you a way smoother/quieter ride than 19" wheels, never mind cheaper tires that last longer.
yeah, your car came with A21240102027X07 wheels, which are 8.0J x 16 H2 ET46, 5 double spoke, front and rear, thats option code R78.

yeah, the old standalone EPC has no access to the mothership databases.
as someone who's owned 3 1990s Mercs for years, I've been subscribing to XEntry Parts Info (the replacement for EPC), direct from Mercedes. I get enough utility out of it to make the $75/year well worth it. This isn't full WIS, its just the 'real' parts catalog, but the fact that it can pull info direct from the mothership and filter the model's parts collections to suit the VIN's feature codes makes it well worth it.

US$75 a year is decent for EPC only if it has the mothership database. I will look into it.
Can you check mine please : MHL212065EJ004768 / WDD2120656L037906 , I am curious if Indonesian locally assembled cars are in that mothership database.
My springs :
thank you.

note that there's two springs listed, for instance, one of them on the rear says "Code: (65O+(482/485))+-(M156+M63/M157+M55/M005)"
you need to look at your data card, that spring is for a car with option 650, and either 482 or 485, but NO options M156+M63 or M157+M55 or M005... the alternative rear spring says 486/677, which means either code 486 or 677
edit: and then, oh geez, both those springs are the same P/N, hah hah. why they do this? who knows.

I think MB has different prices for different countries. Could be cheaper or more money in yours. I think the US one is here:

Okey dokey.
Let see. I got Data Card from our guru Mr K a year over ago. I titled it OFFICIAL.
The one from you, I titled it ORIGINAL.
Here are the differences.........
ABOVE. It is true that the rear door blind is manual hand operated and not electric version.
.
ABOVE. Mine is surely not AGM Speedshift MCT which supposedly has no torque converter.
The way both data cards described the options, the one from Mr K averagely has more product information.
ABOVE. Your data card version I think showed serial numbers... nice, the one I circled cyan, right side one. While Mr K version has suspension data, left side one.
.
.
.
I never pay attention to the rear spring shim, so I do not its actual number.
Front shim is correct P/N, but I wonder why no code 677 included ?
Allright. Thanks again LCG.

re thje speedshiuft thing, I believe there's two versions of the AMG Speedshift, the MCT one is the normal one with a torque converter, while the other one, can't remember the TLA (three letter acronym) has the dual clutch and no torque converter, and is used on the real AMG cars.
my E350 US model 'luxury' has the AMG Speedshift MCT too/ not 100% sure, but I believe the AMG Speedshift part of it is a faster shifting automatic, with the E-S (Econo-Sports) mode button and paddles for manually shifting

I think for a while that is called TCT, and better known as 7G-Plus where Manual mode is added.
TCT = Torque-Clutch Transmission

AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G (MCT = Multi-Clutch Transmission)

Hmm just like the lights. Dynamic LED = ILS = Multi Beam LED

Hi, sorry for jumping in the thread.I just found my car tilted to its side because a spring probably broke, and I cant order the spring because I don't know which variant it is...could you please help me? The VIN is WDB2110081B09358 I also got installed the ones that raise it's back by about an inch more than the factory ones, should I change those as well?
