16 inch wheel on w212 ,will it fit?

I checked euro wheel sizes for w212 , specific e350 (268 hp) it says it comes with 16x45.5 et 7.5 j. Any one here can confirm that wheel size can fit US e350 .
I believe spec on e350 are same as European one in terms of front calipers and rotors

afaik, only the smaller engine versions, like the E200 or whatever, come with the smaller rotors and calibers that fit the 16" wheels.

I believe the front rotors on my US model E350 4matic wagon are 322mm, and the E350 cars with the sport package have 344mm also have 322mm front disks that are drilled., even the earlier E350 with the older engine has 322mm brakes.

A E200 non sport has a 295mm disk.

(note, I'm getting these sizes off the Zimmernann catalog for their regular rotors, which are OE spec, as the Mercedes parts catalog is a less specific).

I haven't tried a 16", but I run a 17" in the winter and they barely clear the lower ball joints in the front. I found the website www.wheel-size.com to be useful when researching stock sizes. Attached are a couple of photos of my test fitting of 17"s that came off from an S class that I found on ebay.

As shown in the pictures above, it's not the brake rotor diameter that you have to worry about. For winter, I mounted leftover 17" wheels from a 2008 W211 E350 on my 2012 E350 which came with 18" wheels. Everything looked like it fit until I saw the barely 1/4" clearance for the ball joint.

For a 16" wheel, it seems like some significant suspension re-engineering would be needed.

thats about what my 2016 E350 'luxury' with 17's looks like. Note that not all wheels of a given bead size have the same inside diameter, I learned this the hard way with Volvos, where older model 15's would not fit on a newer model car that came with 15's, even though both had the same offset.

Hi, everyone, I found European website of Mercedes Benz configuration , check link
https://configurator.mercedes-benz-a...ransporter=car

I checked 16 inch wheels and you can automatic check with vin no. Whether our can use 16 inch or not. I tried random vins from CarGurus for e350 RWD upto 2015
as it comes with 322x22 front rotors and 16 inch can fit, but when I tried 4matic vins it says it doesn’t fit.

16 inch fits RWD W212 e350 and E250 up to 2015 with et45.5 or et 46.

now I am confused why it doesn’t allow for 4matic with same front brakes.

I think you answered your own question. Think about what's involved with an all wheel drive system; all four wheels are driven so there's extra shafts going to the front wheels which clearly affects the suspension arrangement. Also, some very informative photos have been posted above where you can clearly see that the limiting factor is NOT the brake rotor but rather the ball joints.

Yup you are right , but I also tried vin from 2004 w220 s430 4matic which comes with 16 inch wheels , and 16 inch wheel on MB website doesn’t fit that vehicle with 16x8 et 46.
that’s where I am confused. I am getting 16 inch from w220 and will find out .

if curious. My car came with 18 AMG ,but currently running 17's ,going down for pothole protection and comfort. I had a 08 w204 with sport suspension came stock with staggered setup 225/45/17 and 245/40/17 and later I changed wheels to 17 x8 rial et 48 with 235/50/17 square. Ran like charm not rubbing.

hmm. too bad that tire size only seems to come in load factor 96, and not the 99 XL's

wait, Kumho makes one! rated 100W XL

I used 235/50/17 ohstu fp7000 96v before that I used continental and sumitomo in stock sizes.
but had very good experience with ohstu great grip in rain, I drove around 30k miles a year on highways.

yup , but we don’t have autobhans , cruising at 70-90 , 96 v does job good. For me I changed sizes because of comfort and easily available sizes even in small towns .if needed.
I drive around 35k a year . So it suits my needs . With Z rated tires it’s very difficult to find sizes in small towns. When on long drives.

My 2011 E250 Avantgarde is running 16 inches factory rims.
The clearance between brake components and rims of the front is just 5-6mm.

the W vs V vs H or whatever is the speed rating

the 96 vs 99 or whatever is the LOAD rating. these are /heavy/ cars, and specify XL (extended load) tires, hence the 99 for the 245/45R17

Back to original question, I did put 16" wheels from W211 on my W212 E250 Bluetec.
They do fit with acceptable offset difference.

16” would not fit my W212 S550 in front. It has the big brakes.

Hi All

New here in W212 forums - looking to buy an S212 4Matic E350 Found a couple that are oddly also Tenorite Grey like my G550, one '15 Luxury one '16 Sport model

Question is: Will the 17" wheels from Luxury model fit on the Sport model? I drove a nice certified '16 E350 but I found the ride a bit harsh on the 18s and P Zero Nero AS tires. If I end up with the Sport (.vs. the Luxury) I'd love to put 17s and cushy grand touring tires on it.

15, 16 are actually W212, not 213. 213 started with model year 2017.

the luxury car version has softer suspension in addition to the 17" wheels., while the sport model rides 1.5" or so lower on stiffer springs in addition to its 18" wheels.

the best ride is a luxury wagon, it took us months to find ours.

My bad! Mistyped, meant to say S212 wagons.

This is the luxury wagon I'll be checking out today: https://www.volvocarswalnutcreek.com...a6626cc514.htm - wish it was a '16 w/ the lighting package but the Lux package is rare as it is...

we sure love ours. The 2016 also has an updated COMAND(stereo/nav) which can be coded to support Android Auto / Apple CarPlay natively.

Christmas Eve 2020, the day we recieved it, our virgin test drive, somewhere on the Big Sur coast.

Thanks @Left Coast Geek ! Your 2016 wagon looks perfect with the ILS too. I am tempted to continue looking for one (ideally luxury wagon, MB Tex seats, 2016 MY with ILS) but the two available cars are pretty close

FYI here’s the Sport one
https://www.mbofsantarosa.com/invent...h8jb9gb329309/

Any insights on whether the 17s from the Luxury wagon would fit over the sport models brakes? If I go that route I figure it would soften the ride a bit

yes, on the E350, the sport package has the exact same brakes, just with drilled rotors, which are an affectation in this applicaiton, in my opinion you willl get better brake wear replacing those drilled rotors with the non-drilled ones when its time to replace them

last fall the used car operation run by the Mazda dealer in San Rafael had a black wagon with a cream MBtext interior, no panormaic roof, LED headlights, sport package. its ride seemed better than the luxury sedan we test drove, but that could have been tires or something. the sport sedan had the worst ride (we drove two different ones), then the luxury sedan, then the sport wagon, and the luxury wagon was the best (bought out of state without a test drive!). 6 months and 6000 miles later, we're still TOTALLY happy with our wagon.

said out of state purchase was for a *perfect* 28000 mile CPO car from the dealer in Santa Fe NM. If it hadn't been for Covid we would have driven there to look at it, and brought it home. as it was, my wife was on the fence over it for nearly 2 months bugging the dealer with stupid questions. finally one night after a few beers I concocted a paper hotrod built from a 1991-92 Olds Custom Cruiser, in white, with an LT-1 crate motor, matching GM 8-speed auto, air suspension, custom leather interior, fresh paint and carpet, slightly larger alloy wheels, and figured I could build it for about $30K, which is about what we paid for the MB. proudly showed my paper tiger to my wife, next day she said LETS BUY THE BENZ. hahahahahahaha (her alcoholic dad drove big GM wagons when she was growing up, so she had a very strong distaste for them). I think it could have come out very nice, the air suspension offering a choice between 'soft' and 'performance' ride, etc. plus, it probably could have towed our ~4500 lb camp trailer

Pretty sure that is not the case on the wagon. They are have the same suspension and ride height because they have the same rear air suspension. The front struts on US spec S212 is the same between Sport and Luxury. The only difference is 18" vs. 17" wheels.

On the sedan, I do believe the struts and ride height is different between Sport and Luxury. However, it is not 1.5" drop. Maybe 1.5 cm... barely any difference based on my observations.
