What happens if the drivers side of the gas tank is empty?

What happens if the drivers side of the gas tank is empty?
what would happen if the drivers side of the gas tank is empty and the passenger side is full.? I have opened my tank when it was at a 1/4 full and there was no gas on the drivers side which would make me think the jet pump is sucking air? Would there be a DTC?

MB keep changing the setups, but from my recollection electric pump on W212 is on passenger side, when Venturi pump is on driver side.
Venturi is using returning fuel to transfer fuel from "dead saddle" to the 1 where electric pump will push it into engine.
So with low fuel, you will have passenger side high, when driver side low, or empty.
Would Venturi fail, it would be opposite and the car would die out of fuel starvation having about 5 gallons in other saddle.
That was happening to my friend W211 when mechanic misaligned the pumps.
