I think I will go to 17" rim with 8" width because at least Mercedes had that rim size that compatible with my car. So I will need tire 245/45-17 and something strange required if I want to buy from costco. They asked me to get label in door which replace the current label from 245/40-18 to 245/45-17. So I checked with Mercedes and they told me they didn't provide that kind of label so I can only find maybe in junk yard from damaged car to get that label. I can still buy the tire and installed myself but the warranty such as 60K miles will not qualified because it not install by Costco. This is ridiculous.

My local indie tire dealer had no problems installing tires on my older cars that had +1 rims (came from factory with 15's, and I had 16's from a sportier version), they even had the specs for their alignment machine for my car with that tire.

you could always print this on a mailing label, and cut out just the part with the tire sizes, and stick it over the original...

Thank you Left Coast Geek. I really upset today because Mercedes told me they can change label if they buy rim from them. Everyone knew that Mercedes OEM is very soft and well known for bending even Costco supervisor told me that because he told me just buy rim other than MB it would be fine.Even the price is ridiculous I can get 3 rim such as Enkei instead of 1 soft rim from MB. Costco supervisor told me it safety concern. In fact because of safety concern I want to go with smaller rim and bigger tire because the rim damaged 3 times and cost me $150 each time to fix it. The last incident the tire blow out and both front and rear rim bending. Also after that front drive shaft broke close to front differential and few months after that u joint in transfer case which almost cost me $8k to replace whole transmission. Now the rim had crack in inner side so it leaking so I need to replace the rim and I will not do same mistake I will get smaller rim and bigger tire so it protect the wheel and whole car. Your sticker had scratch so it will be obvious if I try to print and replace label in my car.

Try to get 17: label for driver door I talk to Mercedes Dealer in McKinney, TX. They told me my car can only used 18" tire or bigger. They advice me to still use 18" wheel but use 50 ratio. So if I use willtheyfit.com I can switch to 225/50-18 which will increase the ride height to 14.5 mm more and in fact that more gain then switch to 245/45-17 which will increase tire wall additional 10 mm. But the problem I measure the clearance between tire and front strut is only 14 mm so it might cause problem. Did anyone ever change the tire from 245/40-18 to 225/50-18?

that size does not appear to be available in XL, and is specified for a maximum 8" wide rim (7 inch nominal), your 18"s are 8.5" wide.

Yes correct it not possible to use 18" with 50 ratio. I go to Discount Tire and they more experience with custom size and more flexible. Based on they experience still have to lower rim size to 17 with size either 245/45-17 or what up_to_late used 225/50-17 only those two option had maximum increase on side wall for more protection to wheel and car. I will choose 245/45-17 because that more standard size available according discount tire. I will most likely use Bridgestone Quiet Track because it warranty for 80k miles. Now I am have to choose between Mandrus Stirling using process rotary forging but cost each around $285 than OEM wheels. Or the cheap one MB Wheels Crux for $113. I have decide cheaper or expensive one with the difference in price around $650.

verify the wheels you choose have the precise size center hole, AND use the same size, type, and length of lug bolts (14mm spherical)

I think now I am tempted for higher side wall instead of 10 mm increase going to 245/45-17 I will go higher increase to 16.5 mm instead based on below:
16 inch wheel on w212 ,will it fit? - MBWorld.org Forums
"if curious. My car came with 18 AMG ,but currently running 17's ,going down for pothole protection and comfort. I had a 08 w204 with sport suspension came stock with staggered setup 225/45/17 and 245/40/17 and later I changed wheels to 17 x8 rial et 48 with 235/50/17 square. Ran like charm not rubbing."

I might choose 235/50-17 but that mean I need to get Discount Tire will agree to that because that is not one of custom size they support.
