2014 E350 4MATIC Sedan
I lost my Ding
... but found it again.
As you can see from the first picture, I have a 2014 E350 with "designo" interior, but the "designo" logo letters on the dashboard trim were incomplete, several fell off before I bought the car (the 'd', 'i', 'n', 'g'). Being fairly OCD, this bothered me tremendously whenever I glanced over there. Not just the missing letters, but the holes for the missing letters were taunting me.
On a trip to the dealer, I asked about getting a replacement (long shot), and the parts guy said I had to order the whole trim piece, which "should contain the logo", and it had to be ordered from Germany and cost about $900.
I found the emblem in the 2nd picture on eBay, ordered from China. It's a 3D plastic stick-on "designo' label, similar but not identical to the one on each seat, for a couple bucks plus shipping. So my weekend project was removing the remaining letters and covering the holes in the trim with a sticker I ordered from China. I've got to live with it a bit more, but so far I like it much better than the incomplete letters that were there before, and while I still have to explain to passengers what "designo" is, at least it's not a bad hangman game to do so.
